Right, we've done 1990, and 2000. But that's missing a lot of nice metal from right in the middle of that great car decade

I thought about the E34 M5, but it was getting a bit long in the tooth by then. And there was the RS2, but that would make the Mac F1 in the garage jealous for being faster to 30MPH wink

I'd also consider one of these if I didn't need much room. Plus it would save a few quid over the more luxurious standard 968 (what the hell was Porsche thinking back then, charging less for less? biggrin)

But ultimately, it's got to be this - fast (333bhp V8), unassuming, practical and fun! Although I'd keep the stripes on, so you can probably ignore the unassuming part wink

Edit: Does this mean I've just created my first "What Car?..." thread? Damn it frown

Shall we have this thread for every year since Mr Benz invented the car ? Lol.

This is getting ridiculous.
Feel free folks to start any other type of threads that might be of interest to some of us

I say well done to user White Goodman for repeatedly coming up with some decent thread ideas on here that actually get people talking about the different cars they like. And yes, while this is another one of a similar ilk that just splits the decade already bookmarked elsewhere, there were a hell of a lot of phenomenal cars only produced in the middle of the 90s. If they don't interest you, fair enough you know what to do

He makes a good point. 1990-2000 was my favourite decade for cars too and perhaps the one of biggest change? I don't think this style thread would work well prior to 1960, as certainly my knowledge of cars from this era is limited and I expect the same for the majority of PHers. To do every year would be silly but turn of the decade is interesting just from the point of view of seeing what progress has been made. Lots of great cars were made in between 1990 and 2000 but not in 1990 and 2000 themselves, so the thread is certainly a valid one.

For what it's worth, I like the Porsche 968 too (probably my favourite non-911 Porsche) but for me it would probably be between this:

I would be almost as happy with a standard Carrera 2.

There was a tale (myth?) I remember about the first small batch of RX-7s shipped into the UK, and when they were unloaded onto the dock there was mass panic as the handlers thought they'd all been damaged. It took someone from Mazda to point out that the roof "bubbles" were part of the design

And the wide-body 993 Carrera 'S' - best looking car of the decade? It probably is for me
