As the title.

If there is a meeting or show, a lot of people want to travel in convoys. Why is that? I am genuinely interested as I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that. Showing off? Turning up mob-handed? dunno.

Harley riders love it for some reason too.

On a personal note, I prefer to go alone. Don't mind a bit of a dust up with another car, but otherwise no.

So please explain this to me..........

Ouch! should have seen that one coming!

Often asked to go in a convoy always politely refuse....

Uncle John said:
Did this for a club event once, started of with around 60 cars and ended up with about 5.

Whole thing was a nightmare and not too mention dangerous at times with cars going slow on the motorway waiting for the backmarkers, then others trying to catch up at 130+.....
Been there done that....

Broken down, lost? Use a mobile 'phone, perchance?

I can understand meeting at a services or whatever and arranging where you will next meet etc. Otherwise no thanks - but each to their own.

Oh dear.

OK. I have plenty of friends - doesn't mean I have to drive with them, does it?

I am not asking to be convinced or trying to "get it" - just a genuine anthropological question, that is all.

Not criticising either.

I really enjoy meeting with other petrol heads - lost count of the number I spoke with yesterday at the SS.

Should have known that some would get all defensive, usual PH stuff.

My question has been fairly well answered by some. Thanks.
