Cars you wanted and cars you ended up getting
Discussion
I have noticed that a lot of the time, the sort of car i am looking for or want seems to end up being the exact opposite of what i get
at uni i wanted a renault 5 turbo or 205 gti, ended up getting bmw e34 525
a few years after uni when i was broke my parents got me an old punto 1.1, i hated it my next car was going to be a volvo T5, ended up with my mums old punto diesel.
my next car i wanted to get a range rover, a little bit of interference from my gf and we got a mini cooper s
i've been looking for a 2nd car, to contrast the mini, something with a bit of load carrying, and economical for travelling, something like a 330d estate
tomorrow i'm going to see an slk 230 kompressor

Back in late '06, I was pretty determined to by a new/nearly new Noble M12, but ended up buying a new Exige S instead.
The salesman at, what was the old Mole Valley TVR / Noble dealer when it was near Chessington, made no attempt to even sell me a car, and even went as far to suggest that I couldn't afford to buy an M12, mainly basing his decision on my age (26 at the time) and also on the modified Mk1 Focus RS that I'd turned up in on the day.
Drove straight to Bell & Colvill, in the same car, parked up and dealt with 2 really decent salesmen who didn't assume that just because I was mid '20's and driving a modified car that I must have been a timewaster. Early in '07 took delivery of a Solar Yellow Exige S, that I owned for nearly 3 years, and loved every minute of ownership

14 months ago i was looking for a car with hindsight that it would be used to take my 80yr old mother around doing the shopping, taking her to see a friend etc etc.
With a sensible and practical head I narrowed it down to a Volvo C70 (2009),not everybody's choice but from the research I did it was enough to go and view one.
Arriving at my moms i was keen to show her the picture and ask what she thinks.. Umm that's nice was the reply.
A few hours later I hit the search button on classifieds, about 80 hrs later I had a viewing on a TVR. OK i didn't buy the first one I viewed but less than two weeks later I got myself a Chimaera.
