After too many years of leasing boring rep mobiles I've decided to get something more interesting when the current 330d goes back. Plan is to get an Evora sometime next year but I don't have the funds yet so need a stop gap.

Ideally the stop gap will also be interesting and depreciation proof. The budget could possibly stretch to £20k if that improved depreciation resistance. Would also like it to be less than 10 yrs old with reasonable mileage.

> Must have 4 seats < 2+2 is OK. Lots of cylinders desirable. Real fuel...etc.

Short list includes:

E46 M3 CS manual
E90 M3
Jag XK
S5
6er
VXR8
SC 430

E39 M5 would be a good shout but good ones are rare.

Any thoughts?

You're right, CSL is way over budget sadly and CLS is way overrated. I wouldn't have another. Ugh.

I've missed off the ubiquitous pork. Decent 997 for 15k ish possible?

Edit.
This would be trouble wouldn't it http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

A decent Elise, half way towards an Evora, depreciation proof with low running costs. It just depends if you can live with the lack of refinement or not!
I've already got a VX...some would say that's a decent Elise tongue out but I need 4 seats occasionally and there's no way I'm driving the VX through winter.

Good shout. Would an S4 cut the mustard?

Good call.
Have I got the stomach for the potential bills?
I can't imagine it would be a good choice to live outside and do a 6 mile each way daily commute?
