Hey a section of paintwork on my car is starting to bubble. Only very slightly but wanting to sort as doesn't this mean there's rust under the paint? Or am I wrong? Also to fix it do I need to sand it back to the metal treat with rust converter then spray it? Thanks for any help.

I thinking of sanding back then put rust convertor on, then re-spray?

It's were the trim on the top of the front windscreen meets the paintwork on the roof of the car.

OP take a picture. It might just be moisture thats getting between the panel and paint, either way it needs fixing properly.

Thanks I'll take a picture tomorrow. I think it is moisture getting between the panel and the paint though. How would you recommend stopping this from getting any worse or removing the bubbling. Suppose it will be easier for you to say when I get a picture uploaded.

It will probably need stripping to bare metal and working up from there.

Sometimes paint can be ok for ages, but under certain conditions problems can surface, look at this: http://www.ferdinandmagazine.com/porsche-classic-p...

Its covering the car up that caused that. If he had left it with no cover on it would have been fine.

Sometimes microblisters will disappear if the car is left in warm sunshine for a while but they will probably come back.
Thanks so you mean sanding back to bare metal rust converter if needed then re-spray?

Fixable? Or how long do you think until it becomes a major problem. Only looking at running the car another 2 years if possible.

Thanks any way of stopping this getting any worse. Or would you suggest sanding back and treating the rust and re-spraying. I would be attempting this job myself

Cause: Air pockets that have been buried or trapped in the car paint film while it is still wet.
Thanks will these carry on getting worse? Is it ok to peal the windscreen rubber seal off to get more access or would this be unadvisable. I.e it may not re-seal when I put it back?

Just peeled the trim back abit and the metal under it looks sound. It looks like it has started bubbling from the trim outwards.

Pretty sure it hasn't had a new screen. Its meant to be a common place were they start to rust on Suzuki swifts. I pealed back one side of the windscree trim abit and the metal under it seemed sound. Is it ok to remove the trim totally or is this asking for trouble. I.e it not sealing when putting it back on?
