As per the title, I came back home to find my car with the damage you can see in the pic below.

It was parked in a communal parking area which is used by other tenants as well and currently one Mercedes C-Class is missing so I was wondering whether that car could have done it while making a three point turn and reversing into the front.

However I only just took the car off of my sister yesterday night after she had it for a good 2 weeks, without explicitly looking at that corner of the car, so the damage might have been caused by her. Obviously I don't want to confront a possibly innocent party so I will get on the phone to get my sister's account, but thought it might be worthwhile to ask you people, in the mean time, as to the probable causes of such damage.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks for all the detective work so far!

The white stuff does come off when I scratch it with a fingernail, but I couldn't get hold of my sister yet. Unfortunately I could not get hold of the Merc either, as of yet.

But I do agree that it does point in the direction of there having been a car wall interaction at some point.

Can you answer this one then.

Is the Merc white? If so we could be getting somewhere.
No it is dark grey.

No grey traces on the car either, just those pure white scratches.

Not wanting to add to the agonizing suspense you must be feeling, I have to say that I am not quite sure.

In some places it can be scratched off, in others it looks to be the colour below the blue paint.

This is the civilized world, not Bavaria wink

Ready for the resolution of this case?

She owned up to it, and had the nerve to say "It happened one of those days, so what"...

I guess I know who is not going to use that car anymore.

Yes she will be paying, I do wonder how much it'll cost in the end.

It's not so much the fact she damaged it that is bothering me, rather the fact that she thought it appropriate not to come out with the truth straight away. Hopefully this is a lesson to her, it definitely was for me!

The white stuff is actually paint/powdercoat that has transferred onto your paint, in other words sitting on top of your blue paint.

Yes your sister messed up, but before you send a large bill to your sister, try using petrol or tar and glue remover and letting it soak on there. After a few minutes, it should all rub off, and then give it a quick machine polish to refine the finish.

If I had that car here, you wouldn't even know it was there once finished.
Thanks for the good advice. I will try that first!
