£100K Garage: Simon Garlick

From Mini Moke to Aston V8 via Infiniti and 205 GTI, Simon's garage doesn't want for variety!

Name: Simon Garlick (no relation, honest)
Previously owned: Vauxhall Viva, Peugeot 205 GTI, Ford Escort MkII, SDI Rover 2600, Vauxhall Cavalier MkI, Plymouth Barracuda, BMW 328i (E36), Audi A6, Ford Sierra (yuk), VW Passat Estate x2, VW Golf TDl, VW Golf GTI, Various company car nothingness.
Currently owned: Seat Leon diesel motorway commuting thing and Volvo XC60 for the missus
On the shortlist: "VW Golf R32, plus see below."

Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Cost:
£33,250
Balance: £66,750
Why I chose it: "I've been pondering which Aston I would have for a while; there is just something about them that make me go weak at the knees. It took one of these blasting past me the other day before I could make my mind up! Now I'm not sure if the one that went past me was an S or not but the budget is only sufficient for a 'standard' Vantage with the other cars I want. This one looks in great condition plus I love all of the photo angles taken by the owner."

Mini Moke
Cost:
£11,995
Balance: £54,755
Why I chose it: "I know there will be PHers screaming "why, why, why did he put this in?!"Well I've never sat in one let alone driven one, but on the odd occasion that I have seen one I've always thought that it looks like a fun little car. Motoring is about enjoyment and this can be had in a 1,000cc milk crate all the way up to an Aston Martin. I've always wanted one and this car is in great nick. I may just put the 1,275cc engine in it though."

This is the only Mini Moke on PH currently! See all classic Minis here.

Infiniti FX 3.7 V6 S
Cost:
£23,995
Balance: £30,760
Why I chose it: "A friend of mine had one of these and I loved it from the second I got in it. It was just so much fun to drive and it's got some go. Now I know its a dream garage and I could have gone all out and got the 5.0 V8 but I really like the raspy sound of the V6 so this one will do just fine, not a bad daily driver."

There are V8s for sale if you wish... See here!

Mercedes-Benz SL350
Cost:
£26,495
Balance: £4,265
Why I chose it: "A little something for the sunny weekends away that can put a smile on your face. I've always liked the bigger Merc convertibles and we are currently looking at an E250 (or bigger if I can get it passed her indoors) but as its a fantasy garage I thought I'd go for the dream model. I know its not the biggest of engines but I prefer these (I must be getting old) and I think they look fab roof up or down."

Peugeot 205 GTI
Cost:
£2,995
Balance: £1,270
Why I chose it: "A little something to tinker with at the weekends, this one looks straight from the outside but need a bit of work inside to return it to stock. I love messing with cars and this would rekindle an old friendship from my misspent youth when I had one of these. I loved it at the time but I had to get rid of it for a motorway muncher as I started doing long commutes. It's always been my dream to get one again to blast down some local B-roads enjoying the sheer thrill of speeding along in a tin can."

205 GTIs for sale here if you want to relive your youth like Simon!

That Aston shows just how pretty the original shape was, before the chavvy sills and other additions. So much nicer than the current one
