New car replacing my RS6

It seems to be plenty quick enough at racking up mileage, from WB's garage "Current car"
Plenty of iditots reply ongoing here shame. WB said:
Bought for £24,495 in October 2014 at 55,000 miles. Now worth about £8,000 at 133,000 miles.
errrmm..Anyway as I've said plenty of times before I use the garage as a tool to track spend or expected spend (take a look at the date the ownership is up to 2020. (Did you notice I had forecast brake fluid change in 2018 and 2 sets of new tyres etc?))

So, what made you get rid of the RS6 - you haven't had it that long have you?
Just over a year - the original intention was to run it in between the need for the big pricy service items which is exactly what I did. But when all was said and done on average total car cost was £747pcm which while I can afford to do that I'd rather spend that money on my kids. Also got very tired going to the petrol station.
New car should cost c£300-350pcm less for an 8-9year newer car withodern toys which I'd missed a bit in the RS6.
Its an itch I had to scratch and will fondly remember it

£750pm on the old girl is a hell of a bill but at least it's off the list. What turned you off the 3 series in the end and is the 5 any different to drive?
Well I'd pondered a long time about getting a brand new car - it tick lots of boxes and I kept ending up ticking pretty much everything on the options list and couldn't cut things out. But the grips I had was I wanted RwD not AWD and I had to have the 335d so it was something which I couldn't overcome (the significantly higher ride height) So I had decided to go for a used 330d F30/31 either or didn't matter. My local BMW had 5 so off we went last Sunday to view them (hadn't booked up to see anything mind). Arrived there before the place opened and strolled through the used cars and I just spotted the 535d - it wasn't even on my list - it looked great, so as soon as the doors opened we got the keys sat inside it and I'd decided already without even seeing the cars is pre decided to view and buy. Asked if I wanted a test drive said yes but I think the salesman (who I must say was an utter gentleman a great sales experiance) knew the deal was done. Test drive was great.
Drive 5 v 3 (I'd tested the F30 330d previously and really enjoyed it) its a bigger car no question and you have to be mindful of that but the ride is great and it really does go when you want it.

Nope I think you'll find that you said you opened an envelope on Christmas day and there was a V5 in it for an S2000 with your name on.
2 years ago - I fear for your kids you seem to hold grudges against risk strangers then hound them down on any thread they post on or create time to move on or simply don't post on my threads as I've requested you to do previously yet you continue to do. Why is this? /please move on I'm rather bored of asking youjohnnyBv8 said:
There are plenty of 'characters' on PH, and a lot of people clearly making stuff up. I'm aware of the background, but still don't really understand why some bores see the need to leap on any post by WB and drag the same old stories up - PH: bullying matters!
OP: that's a significant monthly cost on the RS6! It seems higher than it should be, but if it's right I can see why you decided to change. At least you got to try something interesting/different (before BMW diesel!). Good luck with new car.
Its really down to these reasonsOP: that's a significant monthly cost on the RS6! It seems higher than it should be, but if it's right I can see why you decided to change. At least you got to try something interesting/different (before BMW diesel!). Good luck with new car.
1. I did what 14k odd miles in a year in it at an average MPG or 18.5mpg and super unleaded @£1.35+
2. Put on a new set of tyres c£800 which would last two years
3. Discs and pads need changing so sold price had that in it.
But yep its not a cheap car to run I'm very glad I did it (though had I kept my old 330d for another year is have lost nothing in it not changed tyres and not needed to service it....)
I could have carried on but is always had a one year in my head and as it turns out that's exactly what I got.
Gone but never forgotten.

The F10 535d is a surprisingly good value car if bought used. If I do the miles to justify I'd definitely consider one too.
Just back from a 50odd mile drive the car really does shine effortless pace is the best way to describe it, make that really fast pace "within UK speed limits". Took it on twisties too which was enjoyable - sadly got stuck in town traffic getting back. Result 38 mpg and note that was with spirited driving. On a motorway junction at 70mph I reset one trip and it showed 45mpg while dropping it to 65mph upped it to 50's mpg.
So even on spirited driving its more than doubled the economy which is fantastic.

So you mean you write fantasy bullst there as well as on the forum then ?
I'm sorry but I can and do use that section of the forum as I see fit. I want it as a budgeting tool which is then updated with actual costs as and when I taken them, previous cars are clearly all now full actual costs. I think you will find it is Labour Party which publish a fantasy budget yet muppets keep voting for them.

Have you got next weeks lottery numbers as well? Anyway as I've said plenty of times before I use the garage as a tool to track spend or expected spend (take a look at the date the ownership is up to 2020. (Did you notice I had forecast brake fluid change in 2018 and 2 sets of new tyres etc?))
The costs I've put in firstly are for my use primarily but happy for anyone to view - secondly the items I've put in are known things which have to be done on a bi annual or annual basis plus I know what they cost now.
Lottery numbers - when I play I always do 20/21/22/23/24/25 reason its just as possible as any other winning sequence but has the benefit that fewer people will choose that over 1-6 or lower straight runs (sadly since lottery started I've not won once from memory/incase someone goes and checks I don't play all the time so if they have come up my bad luck.

You know what the costs are now, but have no idea of what the costs may be when you actually come to the time incur them, so what is the point, also how can you predict the value of the car in 6 years time? The numbers maybe for you benefit, but are pointless in the real world.
I understand budgeting fine, so surely it wold have made more sense to take out a service plan, then you would accurately know your costs, at best you have posted a load of estimates.
Well the c£8k value is what BMW gave me as a GFV if I went down the used car PCP route - I think that was 4 years (cannot remember as I went for straight purchase)so discounted it). So I've put in that value for 6 years 2 additional years plus a further 26k miles ish - sure its a guess and one I hope is a worst case but I'd rather that and then IF it fetches more that's a nice problem to have. I understand budgeting fine, so surely it wold have made more sense to take out a service plan, then you would accurately know your costs, at best you have posted a load of estimates.
Forecasting/budgeting is always guesswork to some extent I've attempted to add as much reality as possible to it - for my own benefit.

Not sure it's a step up from an RS6
diesel power bands are pretty narrow, and they are clattery things.
I was disappointed with the gearbox in my 335d, It was terrible and never made use of the 350bhp it had.
Hope the new box is a lot better, and better still it needs the 4wd version too.
Its a totally different ownership prospect and you cannot compare the two as they would never be competitors - I wanted a fast diesel which it is good economy which its demonstrating loads of modern kit and a car I can run for 6years maybe more as a commuter car. diesel power bands are pretty narrow, and they are clattery things.

The 6 speed auto v 8 speed sports auto are worlds apart the 8 speed is incredible (Jag use it too not sure who else) it changes seamlessly and so quickly plus it holds the gear not kicking down even in D unless its foot to the floor. Compared to the RS6 gearbox which is a 5 speed vry slow changing and isn't the best to be honest.

Well if you have been in cars that barely do >20mpg for years MPG will excite you...
