Hi everyone this my 1st post on here,

Anyways I drive an audi TT 3.2 Quattro. I absolutely love it, recently I went for a break up to fife and drove the north fife tourist trail and north fife coastal route. It was brilliant, sun shinning, had beers on an evening in a hot tub with a lush view then BOOOOSH. back to reality! Only thing id say is be wary of the speed cameras up there cos theres loads.

back on topic, im going to be a dad soon and it looks like the vr6's days are numbered. Im looking for inspiration, for a cheap, economical, reliable car to commute in. Now ive thought about the following options..

I can get a lease car from work brand new seat mii ecomotive, with heated seats 230 a month with insurance tax and everything all I have to pay is for petrol. However some of my colleagues say it changes their tax band so they don't earn as much when they do overtime IE being taxed more cos of the car. Id have to get rid of the TT if I do this option.

I could garage the TT, and buy a cheap run about. However I need it to be a bit cool in some way. I cant be on driving round in a citroen c5. I like old Volvo battering rams but then they aren't economical so I cant have one.

or I could get rid of the TT and spend up to £4k on something.

inspiration please people!
economical to me is 40mpg atleast!
cheaper insurance and tax group the better!
The car needs to have 4/5 doors.
not bothered if diesel or petrol, probs have to go for diesel for the economy but I wouldn't write off either.

thanks for suggestions,

mx5 only has 2 seats so no good, although tempting! cos who ever I didn't like that day could go in the boot!
3 series is looking possible although id probs have to go for 2 litre diesel, as Itll be cheaper to run. although I would love a 330d. My mate had one n it was fun.
ROFL at the impreza suggestion, I would love to do this but I cant see it being cheaper, im getting 30 mpg out of the vr6 out of a 40 mile commute, however im driving under 50 mph on mostly highways, also I make exceptions in certain "circumstances"! it has got the extra space though.

I mite have to look at something with 3 doors then I could find something cheaper that's still fun. Ive always wanted a 106 rallye but there not really that safe or reliable.

Also I like the 2.2 diesel civics they look good on paper.

I will really only do the mii or up thing as a last resort, as I know thatll just bring me misery lol.

I have considered the saab im put off by reliability though, them and Volvos are the only cars that will come with full leather and low miles and around 40mpg for reasonable cash in my eyes.BMW's are extorionate imo, is it just time of year, there seems to be very few bargains!

There is a mint cond audi 80 but I have been put off as its an old engine and mpg is apparently terrible lol
