Ford F-150 SEMA specials - truck yeah!

Vaughn Gittin Jr and Deegan 38 SEMA custom Ford F-150s - file under 'guilty pleasures'

Basically the good ol' American pick-up remains the last bastion of unashamedly macho posturing, as proven by the beyond parody Bass Pro Toyota Tundra XLS No Pinkos Shock & Awe Freedom Fries NRA Smith & Wesson Special Edition we wrote about just recently. If hearty outdoor pursuits like huntin', shootin' and fishin' are just too namby pamby though Ford has announced two customised F-150s for SEMA that really ramp up the testosterone levels.

"I love trucks, and to build one that has daily on- and off-road capabilities, as well as drifting and jumping capabilities is something I have always wanted to do," says pro drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr (yes, he's a real person) of his personally specced F-150. "I am really pumped to get crazy in this F-150 at SEMA this year." And that's genuinely a direct quote from the Ford press release.

Gittin Jr's truck has Kibbetech suspension seemingly able to drop the car 12 inches to alternate between off-road hoonery and a more slammed look for the street. Which according to a quick Google search on Kibbetech would appear to mean doing donuts in intersections to the whooping admiration of onlookers. Inside Recaros for five mean you can enjoy such antics with four of your friends too. Whisper it, it looks rather cool.

Freestyle Motocross star 'The General' Brian Deegan has gone for a more off-road biased build for his Deegan 38 F-150, his truck riding high on Fox Racing Shox and packing a full and expansive list of tuning partners. "This F-150 should inspire the vast off-road, extreme-lifestyle-loving fan base to push the possibilities of the kick-ass new 2015 F-150 and the awesome 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine," says Deegan in the same press release.

Suitably inspired? There are currently half a dozen 6.2-litre, 411hp F-150 Raptors in the PH Classifieds, priced from £35K up to just shy of £50K. Not cheap then. But a hell of a lot of truck for your money, this Whipple supercharged example complete with 'Whipplesaurus' sun visor, claimed 200hp upgrade and stars'n'stripes Ford logo on the grille probably the most appropriate. Go large or go home, as Gittin Jr and Deegan would no doubt advise.

For the real truck experience Florida is the place to be. These 150s are the real baby size with my personal favourite being the Floridian with the Ford F350 with mountings for TWO Harleys on the flatbed and a speedboat on the back with 3 x 250HP Mercury V6s. F**k you Global warming!
