how much faster will it feel
Discussion
lets say you have 2 petrol cars, about the same size little hatchback.
One does 0-60 in 15 seconds has 60bhp 70 lbs of torque
The other does it in 9 seconds and has 120bhp and 110lbs of torque
Will it FEEL a lot quicker? Hypothetical situation that ive never been able to compare.
Ive compared diesels to petrols but of course diesels have a st lot more torque so tend to feel faster.

Yes it will feel much quicker, particularly at higher speeds. If for example said hatchback requires 25bhp to maintain 60mph and you want to accelerate from there (Assuming the gearing allows maximum power to be used in both):
i just want something with a bit of speed for my daily commute so was hoping 9 seconds felt quick ish- The one with 60bhp will have 35bhp remaining for acceleration
- The one with 120bhp with have 95bhp remaining for acceleration

In my experience, anything with a 0-60 time substantially over 10 seconds is frustratingly slow in the sense that it has to be worked hard just to make ordinary progress.Anything below 10 seconds is perfectly usable and just about fast enough to have a surge feeling when in its sweet spot.
A 65bhp hatch has to be revved hard just to keep pace in flowing A road traffic, which is fun from time to time but would get annoying quite quickly.
That said, I felt very pleased with myself when I kept up with a 458 for 2 seconds exiting a roundabout the other day - he was in 5th gear and not trying to accelerate; I was in 2nd just under the limiter and then pretty much flat-shifting into 3rd to keep up just in case he opened the taps so I could hear the engine. The chap very kindly smiled at the idiot in the screaming Chevrolet Kalos and dropped 2 cogs to roar off. It sounded

I like riding bikes, I like driving cars -slow or fast ones. Guiding the wife's 1.2 shopping trolley down the back roads is great fun.
Heck, I even liked riding horses when I tried it, especially galloping along desert singletrack.
i used to rev my corsa b like mad years ago when i first started driving, was actually quite fun but definately not fastHeck, I even liked riding horses when I tried it, especially galloping along desert singletrack.

I got a greater sensation of speed of speed from a 306 gti 6 than an E55 AMG (the 5.5 Kompressor) because the 306 felt more 'on edge' and the 306's engine really comes alive after 5000 rpm whereas the AMG had power all the way through. I think your expectations of how fast the car might be are an important factor as well..
so nice revvy engines could feel faster?crazy about cars said:
As others have mentioned, how fast it will "feel" will always be determined by the quickest car you've driven.
After the GTR everything else feels slow to me but I'm slowing appreciating other aspects for driving.
this makes sense as when i got my first slow car i thought it was fastAfter the GTR everything else feels slow to me but I'm slowing appreciating other aspects for driving.
