Didn't cars on eBay used to be exempt from the "legally binding" thing?

I thought it used to be that auctions for cars meant bids were actually just an invite to trade or something - the last few cars I've sold I've treated the winning bid as a viewing more than a "YOU MUST BUY IT" scenario.

Looking at their T+C's it seems that now it's only classified motors on eBay where that exemption exists.

Or am I dreaming?

No never, people got confused with classified auctions and the USA rules, and they it became truth on the net, when it was always wrong.
