We all know the...

...and...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

...threads well. I've contributed and been a feature of both on several occasions but to my knowledge there hasn't been a successful Anti-Knob thread.

The knob threads are a foundation part of this forum. It gives people an opportunity to vent, highlights issues and from an outside observers point of view justify some of Darwin's theories.

With so much negativity in the world with the internet as a focal point I feel it's time for good deeds on the road to be recognised as well.

Little things we all do but remember that pillock who cut us up on the roundabout instead.

For example; yesterday before I left work I turned the radio on to a local station and found out there had been a collision on the main part of my route. The road was closed so I needed to take a slightly longer diversion. As the road had been closed for two hours already I grabbed a few of cans of Coke so when I reached the traffic control point I got out, gave the officers a drink and carried on home.

The little things that we do or we see other people do that just makes driving in the UK less like running a gauntlet.

The motorcyclist involved in Sundays collision sadly died as a result of his injuries last night.

If the moderators wish to close this thread out of respect I wholeheartedly agree.

I stopped to let a couple of pensioners cross the road at a bend in the road. I was in my sisters Punto complete with "L" plates so the car behind me I guess assumed I had stalled or was the learner. As they blasted their horn, revved the engine and pulled out to overtake I opened the door. They stopped and I politely pointed in front of me where the old dears were in line with the drivers side headlight of the car I was in.

The overtaker's head fell between his shoulders, he waved to apologise and reversed his Audi A3 TDi back behind me.

It reminded me of half the overtakes I get on my bike. If drivers would take a moment to observe instead of assume the world would be a safer happier place. smile

The Knob Thread said:
Me today, well yesterday.

I stopped for petrol but was distracted by what looked like a drug deal doing on in the corner away from the forecourt. Went in to pay grabbed a couple of other things for lunch and asked how good the cctv was because I couldn't make out the number plates of the two cars involved as they were in the dark and forecourt was obviously lit up so it was like an ID parade from where I was.

Scanned stuff, chip and pin paid and went to work.

Sent a text to a mate in the Police Service to tell him about the suspicious behavior and descriptions of the people and vehicles involved. Got a knock on the door this afternoon. I'd paid for the food and drink but not the Petrol. rolleyes

I was that distracted I didn't check the till reading, the chip and pin readermebob or the receipt so it's as much my fault as theirs for not charging me. wink
I'm undecided about this if I'm a complete knob for being distracted or not a knob for seeing something suspect and doing something about it.

I don't think there's enough scope for a 50/50 thread so I've posted on both. wink

That was the second thought that crossed my mind...

"How good are your cctv cameras?"

"Bye I'm not paying".

A thread about RX8 reliability in another forum...

I said:
I bought my second 13B turbo because it was £200 cheap and had a seized engine. The car had developed a misfire and the owner took it to a garage to get it looked at. While it was there the engine seized and had to be towed home. The owner wasn't charged but was understandably gutted.

I was thinking I could rebuild the engine and sell the car on for a quick profit but as soon as I opened the bonnet I noticed the standard spark plugs has been removed. They were knackered and no doubt the cause of the misfire. The replacement plugs didn't look right so I put the car in 2nd, took the handbrake off and pushed it back a few feet. The engine turned and locked again. I took the spark plugs out that were 5mm too long, fitted the correct ones; the car started first turn of the key and was absolutely faultless.

I drove the car back to the chap I had bought it from that morning and as well as getting my £200 back I charged him £30 for the spark plugs.
I had completely forgotten about that one.

Can't beat a good curry!
Not sure how that's relevant to korma...
If you get into a Korma coma you wake to a Jamaican aroma.

On the way into work last night I observed a driver who was all over the place. + or - 10mph of th speed limit, drifting over the centre line running over a couple of catseyes before jerking back to the left.

I have a rule about these things...

"If I were a Police officer would I pull this guy over?"

...if the answer is yes I call 101 hands free immediately and report it.

There were units close by so I gave a running commentary as the driver nearly hit cars coming the other way before clipping the curb the other side. I lost my view briefly as he jumped a real light and had to use a bus stop lay by to avoid a collision. CCTV had him at this point. From the lights I got to a straight just as he turned right into a side road and CCTV lost him. I followed and he parked up outside a house and I managed to give the operator a full description of the driver as I went past. I got to the end of the road ready to turn around and keep an eye on things until the Police unit arrived and my mirrors filled with blue lights. cop

If you report someone you believe to be a drink driver today; you save a life tomorrow.

The arresting officer was a friend of mine and swung by work to get a statement, tell me the driver was five times over the legal limit and was being held over night due to the black bin bags of freshly cut cannabis that were in the boot of the car. He didn't tell me exactly how much but it was a "custodial amount". judge

So a top tip for any apprentice drug lords out there. Make sure your transporter drivers are sober enough not to attract attention.

hehe

She only wanted £20 worth of unleaded. I gave her £10 of diesel. That'll teach the lazy bh.

Only kidding!!? Poor old dear, was ever so grateful. smile
Similar thing happened to a friend up in Glasgow a few years ago. It was for a hidden camera show/news report after Glasgow was nominated as one of the "Friendliest Cities in Europe". rolleyes

As this isn't allowed in other threads I thought I'd share here. This Citrine Yellow Mondeo was passed by at least a dozen vehicles before I slowed opened my window and told the driver her rear door was open.

Knee jerk reaction to unwarranted hostility. The Mondeo is a lot rarer and a much more welcome sight than the soccer player specials that filled that thread recently.

You need to go to specsavers if you believe that a Mondeo is a supercar.

Anyway, I'll assume you don't want all your posts deleted ..... except of course for your Nazis one .... rolleyes

Back on topic now.
Supercars and Rarities. There are fewer MkI Mondeo's than Ferrari 458s in the UK and being a manual the one in the photo is a far better car.

Totally deluded; when you consider aspirational. Anyway, enough trolling, end of discussion and move on; and thread back on topic.
This is a debate that should be on the original thread but my freedom speech and right to have an opinion are disregarded.

And that makes me a troll?
