Toyota Aygo manages pretty well even if you're pressing on. It's got stupidly long gearing, especially in 3rd & 4th plus a 3 pot engine, so it seems natural to leave it in 2nd until it's properly spinning before changing up. Acceleration above 60mph is glacial though.
