For second car? £1300 on insurance ( will be 18 )

Anyone got experience of these cars? The fuel consumption, how they are to drive, good at beating many cars at the lights?

Beating cars at the lights? not really. I owned one and it's not at all quick - around 9.5 seconds to 60. Being a Fiesta the handling is great though, and I got 47mpg from mine, although talking about racing people at the lights sounds like you won't get anywhere near that.
haha, well it will be much quicker than my 1.2 corsa energy..

Current or older one?

Either way, should be great for a first car, I had three Fiestas in a row. They drive well, are reliable, and cost buttons to run. smile

They have just about enough power to be an ok daily car but not enough to be massively exciting. They're supposed to handle quite well though. The Fiestas chassis receives a lot of praise.
yeah, the ST 2.0 will be too much to run though surely?

I have had mine for nearly 6 years now (55 plate) it has been good for the most part, the only negative during that time is a blown headgasket recently.

In terms of beating people off the line...well you won't be beating too many people I can assure you of that. It's just not a quick car, although I'm not that sort of driver. It is a very fun car to drive though and I have enjoyed the 6 years of ownership.

It's cheap to run, I regularly get between 40-45 mpg and parts are cheap too if anything does go wrong. I do feel as if I have now out grown it being 23, however with it being just your second car it would seem to be a good fit.
cheers for the info mate

Ignore comments about it not being powerful. Compared to a 1.2 Corsa it will be a bloody rocketship quite frankly, and it drives very well. smile

Regarding the ST, get a quote, if you can afford one then obviously it's an even better drive than the Zetec-S, couldn't comment on how thirsty they are as never ran one for long though.
haha thats what I needed!

AND I WILL HAVE 1 YEARS NO CLAIMS

Worth getting a quote on a Seat Ibiza Cupra, they were certainly a lot cheaper to insure than a Golf GTI which it shares it's engine/running gear.
will check soon, not very keen on them though

i have a mk6 Zetec S TDCI.

It's a nice motor, the handling is brilliant and it feels well put together. The diesel engines are absolute rubbish but if you're going for the petrol then you have basically no worries apart from they like to eat coil packs and thermostat housings.
yeah, wouldn't get the TDCI, looking forward to getting the petrol in a few months

I had a mk5 Fiesta ZS, go kart handling, horrid back ache on long motorways, never went wrong, did 7,000 miles in a few short months and then sailed through it's MOT. All the kids like it and therefore crash them quite alot. The Mk6 had better roadholding from what I saw when trying (and failing) to keep up, (I wanted to stay on the road).

Both of them won't do your "traffic light getaways" because they are only 1.6's, you may be able to beat anything upto the limit when they driver isn't paying attention to the lights though. wink

Here is one of the better pictures of mine;

haha, looks nice mate, I will only have the Zetec S for a year or maybe 2 before I get a quicker car such as an ST

I own a mk6 petrol zetec s, its a great car however the engine lets it down, keeps up with most cars but not quick, needs to to be turbo charged or have variable valve timing to give it that extra go which it needs. Had a loan of a mk7 zetec s tdci for a week, doesent feel as sharp as mine, diesel power in this car feels wrong, pulls well but runs out of revs instantly although it is a lot better on a long run fuel wise. A zetec s is pretty much an insurance friendly ST
yeah, it will do me for a year or two definitely compared to my 1.2 corsa it will feel so quick

I've always had a soft spot for these growing up, blue with those multispoke alloys look brilliant, even now i still like them.

As for the speed, im sure it will be fast enough but it will be more about the handling with these cars as they wont weigh much.
yeah should feel quick to me for sure, I want a black one with the black alloys

The TDCi will be quicker with a map.

Just sold mine a few months ago, fantastic car and cheap to run. I really looked after mine so never had any issues with the engine.
how much is it to map a TDCI

Love it. Great handling, and good mpg - especially on a long run. I bought it as a second car to keep the miles off the RB.
It will be going on Saturday, a mate is buying it off me, and he can't wait. I'd love to keep it, as it is a great little runaround, and very fun, but I haven't got room for three cars. Pick up one of these within the next 2 weeks.
that looks nice, yeah i think I will get the MK6 Petrol Zetec S
