Morning all,

A teenager decided to try and kill my GT-R this morning, admitted liability, sadly my insurers want to give me a Mondeo-esq equivalent.

Does anyone know, work for or own a claims management company that will put me in a like-for-like car whilst they sort it out?

Thanks in advance,
Donny

I've seen replies from you before MPH, your reputation remains intact.

I'll be sure to let the teenager know that I've been responsible for increasing everyone's premiums, after they've removed her car from the head on collision she caused when she overtook a car straight into me.

Thanks again.

NISMO Juke being offered, sounds like more fun than an oil burner.

Now you'll actually be able to answer the question - 'what's quicker, a GTR or a 1.6 hire car?'!

My money is on the Juke...
That's cheared me up no end, you're probably right.

That made me laugh J4cko; they won't be enjoying it for a while as it's currently a three wheeler.

Anyhow, here's an update for everyone - on confirming a few more details my insurer apologised for the third party trying to downgrade me as I've paid an additional premium for a like-for-like replacement and so I'll be getting a BMW650 or Audi S8 Quattro tomorrow.

That's more like it - the Atom would have been freezing at this time of year hehe

Sadly no, they're the two cars in the SV10 bracket the GT-R is in that they have in stock, I'd quite like to drive either.

I nearly bought a M6 a few years back but went for a Maserati GranSport instead (for sale if any of you are interested) so pootling about in a 650 will give me a fairly good idea on whether I made the right decision.

I've not had a quick Audi since my late teens and an A4 1.8t, so that'd be nice too.

Seems it all turned out okay.

I thought he was joking too. Sounds a bit whiney, "don't you know how important I am?" hehe

Hi Toxic, you may not have read the whole thread. I've paid the additional premium for like-for-like it's not a case of me being uppity about a certain car brand etc.

I'm too bald to be petulant hehe

Sway, I apologise for my resistance to your planned group test.

(I was actually looking forward to a NISMO Juke)

Sarcasm not justified.

MPH is correct, it IS attitudes like yours that bump up premiums for everybody else. Didn't you hear the government inquiry?

You don't need a like for like temporary replacement. Take a Mondeo and put a bag over your head if you think people will view you with contempt.

Or use your other car.
Whoa, I've giggled at everyone else, but MBH, WTF?

I pay more insurance premiums than most and never make a claim, I tick the boxes that ensure I can continue my lucky life and I pay the extrodinary amounts of money that are associated with the four stunning vehicles I own through sweat and tears.

I still have not made a claim in 20 years but have subsidised everyone else's and you, 'my comedy hero' takes a crack at me.

Boooo, :sulks, disappointed in a corner' (but can still login) :hehe

Irrespective of your history, if you increase the value of a claim, why do you think that doesn't increase everyone's premiums?
Because I've never claimed. I still haven't claimed. I still pay the top prices to ensure I get the top service. This subsidises everyone else - including the teenager that hit me.

MBH, you owe me a beer whilst wearing a comedy red nose... Btard tongue out

Chaps, I have no idea what's going on here, I have worked my socks off to own four vehicles which are, or were, at the absolute top of their game - real enthusiast vehicles.

I over insure them.

I've never claimed in 20 years.

The GT-R is my daily driver, not my special car - you may or not be a Mondeo person, as I may or not be, but I paid to be a GTR/Maserati/Atom/FireBlade person should someone else be at fault it's like gambling, I've been spending for 20 years against 4 or more special vehicles and today I lost by being bashed in the face by an airbag.

Seeing my eight year old child cry in pain.

By seeing a fiesta that got airborne after hitting a near two tonne car and ripping the door open hoping there wasn't a child in the car that required CPR.

I've overpaid multiple insurances for years - I'm getting an uber barge to drive tomorrow - ive paid for it.

Get over it.

I look forward to being sued for being hit head on by a novice driver overtaking two cars turning left on a residential road in torrential rain and not seeing a luminous orange car.

Someone has made a mistake, you're still alive, you're going to get your car fixed, you're still able to go about your daily business. Would having a GTR courtesy car make up for the pain of your child? Seems to me that you are mixing up your desire to "punish" the other driver for the potential consequences of the crash they caused with your frustration that you could be driving around in a mondeo instead of a GTR.
When you buy a five bedroom mansion for your three person family I hope you are happy to receive a two bedroom flat in Afghanistan, as it will do regardless of what it is you paid for.

You're funny x

I don't think the suggestion was you would be sued for being hit head on by a novice driver overtaking two cars turning left on a residential road in torrential rain and not seeing a luminous orange car.

The suggestion was that you were being sued for not minimising your incurred costs whilst the 3rd party fixed your car.
I'm not in possession of the 2.8 sec to 62mph and 201mph school run car that my children are used to, obviously.

How on earth could you get out of the shower and to school on time without four wheel drive, massive torque, stunning 0-30 times, traffic light F1starts with pops and bangs.

I even changed the colour to police fluorescent orange for the winter.

Can you tell I'm taking the piss?

Chap, I can only leave you with kids booster seats, old cars and rubber dinghies. We're in different worlds, one has lizard overlords, and, well, the other one, which I live in.

...oh, and the third place where my once buddy MBH finds himself in hehe

As often the case, there seems to be a complete and utter ignorance of the facts here, let me explain to the hard of thinking...

What is the premium for like-for-like for...

Well after reading this far I guess you all know what the outcome is.

But WTF do you pay your insurer for it if the fault party is to blame, you muppets you're paying the wrong party.

It's because you don't understand insurance...

Are you calling me an idiot?

No, you're just ignorant...

Is that worse than idiot!

Yes - they have an excuse.

... I pay a premium to INSURE the difference between what the 3rd party will pay for a hire car and what I want to have as a hire car. Hence the reason I asked if there was a trusted PH source to make it happen AFTER I'd paid for it.

I reminded my insurer and they were most upset that a third party had fobbed me off, and gave me a premium vehicle I'd insured myself to have.

I used to love this place, a bunch of like mined groovy people making money and enjoying things with engines; this thread shows that they're still here, but shouted out about 1:5 to uninspiring folk.

Thanks for you that know you deserve it, and to those that don't, you already know you deserve what you have.

For all your verbose, these last 2 paragraphs compared to the 4th are the root of the issue. You're paying your insurer for the difference between 3rd party liability and the car you want; but you want the 3rd party to stump up for the GTR....

The 3rd party is my insurers hire car company not the death wish teenagers insurers.

Keep up.

Often I'm told I was destined to make money as I'm switched on, I always say I'm just a normal chap... Mave, if you're a normal guy, I'm not performing well enough and should be scooting about in a few veryons.

This is better than cats drilling to lower blood pressure...

Thank the sweet baby Jesus, you've got it, without actually getting it.

I've been subsidising you by paying these inflated preimums and not claiming for twenty years...

Guess what, the insurer told me my premiums will be unaffected, not just the no-claims scam, the actual cost.

I really wish I paid more tax and it went to education.
