Who on here has been caught doing something , motoring related or not, by the Fuzz and then somehow managed to get away with it ?

Was talking to an long time friend an we were reminiscing of times when being pulled by the plod for speed / driving related offences for them to then just send us on our way.

Reckon a few good stories could be dug up here.

Suppose I better give you one occasion myself.

Out in the cars for a B road blast in my old c20xe corsa b , a friend with his 2.0 8v nova in tow .
Belt snapped due to a stone putting a dent in my alternator pulley, leaving me with a limited source of electricity.

Decided to get to my mates farm with him as quickly as possible as it was getting dark and didn't want to be stuck with no leccy on a dark twisty B road.
Off we went myself infront and my friend on my bumper the whole way.
Got to his farm track an all of a sudden police (panda car) scream past blue lights sirens the lot.
Supposedly we had screamed right past them at a junction 4-5 miles further down the road an were doing speeds in excess of 100mph to catch up.
We explained to them the situation, asked us to prove it. We did .
And they gave a stern warning about street racing followed by us the yes sir no sir 3 bags full sir attitude.
Said he didn't want to see us on the road again that night.
Fair to say I stayed at my mates. Until the next morning.

First time I've heard of that.... But knowing how the courts communications with outside parties I am somewhat not surprised !

Lucky bugger !

Was just reminded by a friend today ...
Driving through Glasgow in my old winter hack ( rover 45 1.4)

Nominated driver and rushing to get home from a night out.

Cue blue lights , st.... Was easily doing 50 odd in a 30. Roads being dead at 3ish in the morn.

Pull over Get out the car and walk to the police.

"Do you know why we have pulled you over son ?"

"Was I a bit on the far side of 30 sir ?"

" erm well that .....and you have a tail light out "

Have a look back at the shed , right enough it's out, walk over to it, give it a "fonz" style thump ... It pops back on !!

"Not anymore sir"

" must be a dodgy connection, bugger off home an get that fixed"

Was happy to oblige an as expected drive very slowly home afterwards.
Mates were pissing themselves that the old "if in doubt, give it a clout" routine actually worked.

A colleague of mine got a Ford Probe for a Co' car sometime int he mid to late 90's and while I did love the Cavalier I had at the time I have to admit to being a little jealous.

He gave me a shot of it driving back from Glasgow one night so I had to try out the top end didn't I!

We'd figured out that when heading east along the M876 past the Larbert exit, there were no places a speed trap could hide so I opened the taps.

By the time I got to the tight RH bend before joining the M9 I was doing an indicated 130 units of some description per other units of some description so I backed off a bit, took the bend and floored it as the road straightened out.

There were two cars ahead, (one in L1 and the other in L2), on the M9 and an artic behind them but I'd get out before the artic so headed for L3 where I could pass the two other cars. It was otherwise empty.

I'd checked my mirrors and went for it and as I was passing the first of the cars I casually checked behind me and there's a traffic car approaching at high speed. I can only guess he was out of sight behind the artic' as I had no idea where he came from.

Immediately clenched up and took my foot off the throttle aimed for the Kincardine Bridge exit and coasted back down towards 70, and he followed me...

...Almost all the way to the roundabout at Airth when he pulled out and came along side. I glance over, the guy in the passenger seat pointed at me, gesticulated that I should 'screw the nut' a bit and off they went. They doubled back round the roundabout and headed for the motorway.

They obviously recognised the 'honed' driving ability of this mid 20's IT guy! nuts
I know that stretch of road very well... A good road for some vmax.. Also the new bridge makes for some fun 😂
