Evening all.

So my grandmother has decided she would like a new car. She currently drives a 15 year old 1.2 3dr auto lupo, which is sat at 44k. She has owned this from new, and it has served her well. Now she is getting on a bit more, she is finding the lupo a little too low to be clambering in and out of, and her very elderly (some 90+) friends really struggle.

So she wants something a bit taller, that will be easier to get in and out of. She has also decided that 5 doors would make life easier when taking passengers. It must be auto and obviously performance is not an issue, as long as it isn't completely gutless when loaded with 4 pensioners + pensioner stuff.

She has expressed interest in the current Kia Picanto, and asked me to have a look. At first glance it seems a sound little car, with good reviews and of course Kia's excellent 7 year warranty.

The 5 door auto comes in at £10,495.

Is there anything out there that we should be looking at? This isn't really my usual type of car to be researching, so I genuinely have no idea if there is anything better out there for the money?

Obviously if it was my 10k I'd probably be looking at E46 M3's but she wants new, so that's not an option.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks alot for all the input guys, just what I was looking for.

She won't be anywhere near the 100k in the time she owns it, so that swings it towards the Kia but I'll push her to test drive everything in the class that fits the requirements.

I'm sure she could be persuaded to go nearly new but I think it's a bit of a present to herself so nice new and shiny is desirable.

Thanks again.
