Hello Pistonheaders

I am a first time gasser and looking for the collective wisdom the forums seem to be able to offer. I am currently in a 13 Plate C63 Coupe Black on Black and looking for an upgrade but anything I am looking at seems to lack the 'magic' on offer with what I already have. Budget isn't set in stone but am comfortable looking at the circa £75,000 - £90,000 mark. I've been looking at the DBS and the Bentley Supersports so far and whilst I could probably be happy with either I think what I really want is something that captures the lunacy of the C63 but a rung up the ladder. The SLS would be an obvious choice but its a little beyond what I want to pay. I had been toying with looking into the CLK63 'Black' but have resisted for some reason. It's my only car so have ruled out F430 etc etc

I'm hoping for some ideas or inspiration on unsought options, or to convince me on the DBS or supersports etc! Thanks!

(By the way I am 26, and 6,2")

Surely keep the C63 (it's the V8 right?) and get some louder exhausts

Much louder

and then spend the cash on driving through really really really long tunnels

(btw I'm 28 and a half and im 5 ft 10)
Haha I think I should just clarify I included my age and height because it's relevant to the car search. As in I'm too tall for anything like a Vantage and being young I can get away with it being a bit flash without looking a dick

Thanks for all the ideas so far, very helpful..

-I took the E63 out and thought it was old man. Sounded dog st aswell in comparison
-612 not for me, another old mans car
-2 seats is fine and 599 is a contender but can that be used every day in the same way a DBS could???
-Definitely getting out of the C63 and into something more 'exotic' so no interest in M5/M6 etc

Is there anyone out there who has been in a similar position in a C63 (or comparable) and stepped up and what did they go for?

Unless you're an accountant, you're too young for a Merc. Buy a Gallardo.

DISMISSED.
Do you have one?

F-Type R is within budget and would trump the C63 in most departments and doesn't look like a barried up rep-mobile smile
This was a bit of a wild card actually. Went out in one, noise is great, performance felt about the same as mine. My concern is it's a little bit small and....well...it's a jag....and I fancy something with more badge!

I have a 2007 599 GTB and its the first Ferrari (prior to 458, california DCT era Ferraris) I had driven that feels comfortable in day to day use. Very heavy on the fuel thought I struggle to get more than 150 miles out of a £120 tank of V power. The car will cruise sensibly and turn into a complete and utter monster if you want it too. It is a lovely place to be on the motorway, smooth and quiet but attracts a lot of attention. I regularly have people behind resting there phones on the steering wheel in the fast lane taking pictures!

They are also a good place to have your money currently, I think they are creeping up in value. I would definately recommend one!
Thanks for this. The 599 I think is the car I really want but I am just convincing myself it's not the right option. I.e it's not being parked in a double garage on a private estate, needs to be used every day, worried about putting miles on it etc. Beast of a car though. MPG I'm fine with as can't be any worse than mine. Maybe I need to take one out...

Sorry for the delay pistonheaders! Some great comments here. Thanks very much. Thought I would answer/reply to a few comments in one go;

-I don't want to tune the C63 or anything for that matter. Bit socks down your underpants for me I think?

-Has anyone hear owned a V10 R8? I fancy something exotic which an Audi isn't really but the V10 is compelling in terms of usability, performance and looks.

-Gallardo is just not everyday usable I don't think. It'll be parked in a train station car park through the week!

-Should I be shot for considering a convertible 911S fairly new around a 13 plate circa £75-80k?

-Don't fancy a GTR as lacks any class

-What does rep car mean???

My shortlist is currently as follows in ascending order of price; 911S Convertible, F-Type R Coupe, Bentley SuperSports, Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari 599 GTB. Autotrader has options I would buy for each of these so keen to hear if anyone has owned any of these what comments they would give?

Surely you get more than 7.5 mpg from the C63?
The C63 is returning around 8-10MPG at the moment on Tesco99!

Good man wink

And about 3/4 k miles on a set of rears?
Haha maybe less on the tires! I only drive with the traction control off so the tires don't last very long. That's what the C63 is all about isn't it?

I still say a Maserati MC Stadale or 4.7S they have the badge & legroom they're proper four seaters they can be used everyday plus the great exhaust note.

Also I lent my mate my DB9 (being 6'7 I never felt truly comfortable I couldn't get the seat back far enough so in the end only had it for a few months) he could pick up his mate from the airport long story short he couldn't get the suitcase in the car!!! He borrowed my friends Maser & the case fitted no problem.

Having had both I'd say the Maser is a better everyday car than the Aston but both are great cars you just need to workout what you need from the car & then you'll be able to decide what suits you.
The masterati is a great shout, badge, noise, looks but my business partner has one so a non starter!

Your right though about the dbs I didn't feel I could get the seat back far enough which would make the Manuel version in particular a little tedious!

Sorry I've been off line Pistonheaders! Yesterday was spent testing cars and decisions have been made.

-The SLS Roadster is an animal. The noise is absurd and it looks amazing on the road. Steering was better than anything I've driven. A great road car.

-DBS, best looking car on the road. Didn't enjoy the manual, although it did seem to pull harder than the semi-auto. I feel inside is a little uninspired and generally a boring place to sit. The noise from the outside is incredible, but inside it is silent.

-The Bentley Supersports is my favourite and I am now just trying to find one in the right colour. The performance is insane. It was soaking wet and the test driver was encouraging me to drive in such a way that was incomprehensible having lived with a C63 for some time, but the SS just gets on with it. It's by far the nicest interior I've ever seen and with the Sport Exhaust is louder that the AMG. The full package.

I'll report back with some pictures once I get it. Thanks for everyone's help!
