You Can Only Think About One Thing: Time For Tea?

Another owner talks about his Porsche - man the barricades?

Given the tone and quantity of conversation following the last time we shared a video about a man and his Porsche you'd have to say submitting something on a similar topic as a Time For Tea? is a brave move. But, once again, this is what we have - a passionate Porsche owner talking obsessively about his 911.

This isn't the first time we've met Jack Olsen either. He, his 911 and his fabulous man cave have appeared in this slot once before, courtesy of a Petrolicious video we shared back in 2013. This video, shot to accompany an article in Auto Bild, focuses more on his car, an eccentrically modified 1972 911 complete with Jack's DIY aero kit that he carries in the car and then installs in the paddock for track sessions at Willow Springs, his local circuit. An ongoing 14-year project, the car has evolved into quite a monster with that $80 homebrew aero kit alone accounting for a second and a half of the 30 seconds he's chipped out of his lap time over his ownership of the car. And he's not done yet. Why do it? "I wanna go faster," says Jack with a shrug, managing to avoid saying anything about the asphalt calling.

Has 'Driver X' effectively killed the market for internet videos concerning men talking about their Porsches though? On this evidence we'd argue not and that Jack's humility, focus and the brief snippets of the car in action are enough to restore your faith in the genre. Hopefully.

See here.

Nice film. I really felt empathy when he talked about the pleasure of surrendering yourself to the simple task of driving flat out on a circuit.
