Cannot open bonnet - any MOT implications?

UPDATE.....
Took the car in for its MOT today, with some plastic trim in the front passenger footwell removed, to expose the bonnet release lever and the dangling bonnet release cable. Also present in the passenger footwell was a pair of pliers.
From the MOT viewing area, when the bonnet was opened I can only assume my pair of pliers were used by the MOT tester, to yank the dangling cable.
No eyebrows raised or questions asked after the test.
It passed with no advisories.

Well, from your OP, "bonnet will not open" is very much not the same thing as "bonnet can only be opened with a pair of pliers". You'd have got different responses and wasted less of everyone's time if you had made that clear. Glad you have your MOT though.

As has been correctly surmised above, at the juncture of my original posting, I was unaware that the boot release cable could still function with the aid of some pliers.
