Lamborghini Aventador 'Pirelli Edition'

Special Aventador celebrates long-standing Lambo/Pirelli alliance in suitably subtle fashion...

Did you know the Pirelli-Lamborghini relationship is as old as Lamborghini itself? Every Lambo, from Espada to LM002 to Huracan, has used Pirelli tyres as original fitment. To mark the 51st year of the alliance (presumably it wasn't enough to be celebrated last year) Lamborghini has launched a Pirelli branded car.

The Aventador LP 700-4 Pirelli Edition is available now and will be with customers in time for the 2015 summer show-off season. Appropriately enough it is available as a coupe and Roadster.

The changes for the Pirelli Edition are entirely cosmetic so you'll have to make do with the same 700hp and 217mph as a boggo Aventador. There are two rather complicated paint options for the Pirelli, just in case the red stripes and those tyres don't get you noticed. Option one is having a matt black roof, pillars, wing mirrors, bonnet and intakes with a choice of six body colours (Giallo Spica, Rosso Mars, Bianco Isis, Nero Aldebaran, Grigio Liqueo and Grigio Alter). The other is gloss back for those upper parts with four matt body finished (Bianco Canopus, Nero Nemesis, Grigio Adamas and Grigio Titans). Got it?

Peer at the roof really closely and you'll see the Pirelli logo again. Lamborghini hasn't yet released any interior pics but we're promised another red stripe, more Pirelli badges and much black Alcantara. Just in case nobody yet had the message.

The Pirelli Edition is described as a 'special series' by Lamborghini but without a fixed number of units for production. Expect a suitably steep premium from the £260,040 (coupe) and £288,840 (Roadster) for an Aventador by the world's most famous calendar maker.

Love the tyres, surprised noone's thought of that before (with the exclusion of maybe the Zonda R).
