Very conflicted and having sleepless nights, trying to decide between two very different cars, the new Range Rover SDV8 or Bentley GT speed 6. Have found the two cars but just can't make up my mind which to go for. My head says Range Rover, very practical, very comfortable, ticks all the boxes and a surprisingly good drive. Great for lugging the family around in, runs to the dump, trips away with the lads to Golf, luggage to and from the airport etc etc etc.

The heart says Bentley though, pure power, over two tons of V12 and 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and an interior that looks like my lounge, some practical aspects, it has a massive boot, not great for anything other than short runs for passengers though and fuel consumption is verging on comical, about 10mpg around town, this though does not bother me to much.

So help, do I go head or heart on the below cars

Panamera GTS was on the short list, great car, great engine, practical, well, more so than the bentley, just can't get with the looks though. Also tired of big German barges, had the 5 in Alpina, had the merc in CL amg loved them but at the time don't want to go back there

Your garage shows landies but no Bentley. An itch to scratch - get one. At least you'll then know.
It is an itch I want to scratch, have an old 07 Range at present, I do love it, so damn practical for everything, just want a bit of power and passion driving again. Was going to keep the Range Rover and get a 599, cost of keeping both though would have been very silly so discounted that now

Sleepless nights over a car decision? Fair enough they are worth more than the cars I buy but christ.
Its a lot of money and I have to live with the choice, so yes, lots of thinking on it. Have always got my knickers in a twist over car purchases though

You should go for the range rover. Atleast then you won't be confused about W's and V's.
Sir i get this!
biglaugh Well played.

I honestly cannot understand how out of all the vehicles available you end up with a choice of a Range Rover or a Continental GT.
For the same reason that most people would be clueless as to how you came to choose a Volkswagen Corrado out of the many many more choices you have in this price bracket and type of car

Time for a change? Why not follow your heart and get the Bentley (you can always go back to the RR if the novelty wears off.)

Any wife/partner, etc having to drive and live with the cars on a regular basis - what do they think?
Wife thinks RR but loves the Bentley, her argument is strong in that we already have the XKR which is her daily driver and I have a play thing track Porsche. My son has said he is leaving home if I get the RR as he wants me to get back to, and I quote "proper cars". Daughter thinks the RR as she loves them, so in short no fooking help at all as all different opinions

Can't you just get the bentley as it's clearly what you want and then buy a much cheaper range rover for when you need the extra space? I think it's better to do that than buy an expensive range rover and then buy a much cheaper conti for when the mood takes you.
If I was going to do that I would get the 599 and just keep the current range rover, this was the original plan, running costs and drive space are the issues there, as a family we are already sitting with 5 cars and have no space for another and two sets of servicing and maintenance on these type of cars is getting to silly money that I just can't justify, even with man maths.

You won't regret following your heart but you will wish you hadn't followed your head.

That makes sense to me at least
Thats the way I am thinking.

You're a petrolhead, right?

and presumably you've worked pretty hard, and took some risks to get to where you are now, right?

So why the feck are you even considering this? If you can afford to buy and run the Bentley, then stop pussyfootin' about and buy the bloody Bentley!

No-one has ever lay on their death bed and wished that they'd bought a sodding Range Rover.
I think this sums it up, will sleep on it tonight and make the call in the morning, I think I know what that call is going to be

Many thanks though guys, can always rely on Ph to put things in perspective smile

Perhaps you're right, I was really stuck when it came to 6 cylinder coupes that I already have extensive knowledge of and plenty of spare parts for wink

Type of car being the key part! I am not quite sure what a Range Rover 4x4 and a Bentley Coupe have in common?

Nothing other than lots of leather and big comfy seats smile Thats half the problem though, one is sensible everyday lugging the other a foot down supersonic couch.

I need one but a want the other….head heart.

Not taken any pics yet, will get some up later. Really happy with the choice, first time in a long time that I am looking for excuses to drive.
