Independent dealers - negotiating

May be a bit of a naive question, but I've only ever bought cars from private sellers (usually via Ebay!)
How much are independent dealers usually willing to negotiate by/what sort of profit margins do they have in used cars advertised for circa £5k?
I'm trying to find an early (2012) 'new shape' Fiat Panda.
There are a few dealer advertised for around £5k, but was hoping to pay closer to £4.5k.
I would hope most cars of this age, being just out of warranty, should have minimal faults so I can't see many 'traditional' bargaining points to be had.
