Warning DVLA - Scam site
Discussion
So my wife wanted to change her address on her driving license, typed in DVLA on google and the top result you get is www.driverlicence.co.uk.
Anyway my wife having never been on the DVLA official site continued to put in all her info into this site and pay £95! for the privilege.
I had just amended mine for free on DVLA official site, so we check the site she used and email them within 6 minutes to tell them to stop processing the request. This was out of hours and we get an email the next morning saying they have processed it, so will not refund (despite on their site saying they will not process anything for 14 days!).
They also want more information so they can process the request. They have refused (in very bad written English)3 times in emails to give any refund and do not answer the phone, our credit card provide will refund us after 30 days, however this to me looks like a massive issue and the DVLA surely should look to get this removed from the search engine.
Anyone else been done by this one?

It says in the very first para on that site;
"Please note that this website is neither owned nor affiliated with DVLA and you may also make your licence application direct on their website. These services may be available from other government sources without a service fee."
This is a common theme on t'web...try getting the special visa thingy for visiting the USA - you get loads of results offering the standard service but at a premium. Even the official site doesn't look all that.

Sometimes paying extra to a middle man is worth it when they add value. For instance, I always pay the Post Office to do a Passport check and twice they have said something would be rejected allowing me to correct it all instantly and get a passport without hassle/delay/beaurocracy.
These sites however are not adding any value to the existing service.

How is this a scam site?
They are providing a service are they not? How dense can you really get?
They genuinely can't make this clearer! If I was them and you tried to do a chargeback I'd fight it right to the end.

On your link the top of the page that comes up says:
"Please note that this website is neither owned nor affiliated with DVLA and you may also make your licence application direct on their website. These services may be available from other government sources without a service fee. Our service charges range from £45-£95. Our total charges are £95 and include all DVLA fees."
It's not hidden away and it's clear.
As with all things, read & understand before you start entering details.

To be fair to the OP, he's in an impossible position.
Whilst he no doubt thinks she's an idiot he's probably only too aware of the consequences of telling her so & is hoping to rack up loads of brownie points by saying what a bunch of scamming robdogs they are

This is not a scam site but a middle man service to do the same as the DVLA does but charges a fee.
A bit sneeky, pay to get your company name at the top of the list and let the money roll in.
I can see how this will catch a lot of people to pay money they dont need to,legal but morally wrong.
Should be ok to get your money back from this mob.

Only careless/stupid people get caught by scams like this. Why would anyone with any brains think that web address was connected to DVLA?
Do a chargeback on the card she paid with.

I am sure there was something official done about these sites, recently. Whether it was guidance, a new law, something from google's terms and conditions, I can't remember, but I'm sure *someone* did *something* trying to prevent it. Sorry, not a lot of detail in that answer but my point is you may have some comeback.

Easily done these days and I bet she will be much more careful in the future.
Live and learn.
Yep looks like the card provider will refund anyway, also the site didn't ask for the correct information, so they can't process it anyway, hence even if they say they offer a service, they can not deliver it, because "they" don't request the correct data!Live and learn.
TBH £95 is a small amount and shes not gonna make that mistake twice, I was just raising awareness to it.
