As I sit in the train station waiting for my train to take me to view a car today, I realised that upto now, i have never paid more than £5450 for a car, which was my last car (M5). The car that I am looking at today is £5800 which will be the most that I will have ever paid for a car.

I've always owned my cars and paid cash. In this current climate of leasing, pcp etcetera, I expect that outright ownership of car is dropping a lot.

So what's the most that you have paid in cash for your car? Lease, pcp etcetera isn't applicable to this question.

all of them if they read the op's post
I am the OP, and tbh given the amounts listed, spending £30k+ seems unusual when not using finance?

Why's that brave?
Just seems an awful lot to pay out in cash I guess. Leave me alone, I've spent nearly 10 hours on trains today to look at a car I didn't buy hehe

What's "finance?"

Is that something poor people get?
Lol. I'm not a powerfully built company director and am poor but never used finance!

Hopefully £3500 tomorrow, prior to that £1350 for a Fiesta SUPERSPORT In 1992. Other than that I have ended up borrowing varying amounts towards cars.

OP, just out of interest, what are you replacing the M5 with?
I went to look at a Mazda6 MPS today. The car itself wasnt right for me. Hopefully looking at another soon after my next shift block

I paid £24,000 for mine over 100,000 miles back, since then I think i've spent more on fuel than the car cost.
That doesn't come as a surprise! hehe
