Hey guys,

I have an MX-5 Mk2.5 Euphonic

As you can see below, the sides have some rust bubble damage.

I am going to order this bomex front bumper and need a side skirt to match to cover the damage until such a time i can repair it properly.

Any ideas? smile

I also have plans to hopefully respray the whole car White and referb the wheels ans spray them and the side mirrors black biggrin

I'm just not sure how to go about repairing the rust to the side skirts ¬¬

Anyone know any side skirts (under £100) that would suite,

Can you leave it for a few days while it's being worked on?

Garath at http://www.themx5restorer.co.uk/ gets a lot of good reviews, and he's less than a couple of hours from you.

You'd really be much better off sorting it now instead of spending money covering the rust up while it slowly rots away underneath.
Thanks! They look good

Ive dropped then an email to get a rough idea of how much it would be to repair/replace the rust areas

Always heard good things about them, may be worth getting them to check the front chassis rails whilst its there as they can be awkward to check unless it's on a ramp. Hope you get it sorted as they're great cars!
Me too,
Thanks dude

Get the front chassis rails checked first before any other work is done. There is a mot notice remainding testing to pay close attention to that part of mk2.5 mx5 after the mxoc brought the matter to attention.

Also if you do want to travel mark at penarthmx5parts is a top guy, knows mx5s inside out and is very cheaply priced. Make a weekend out of it.
Is this penarthmx5parts guy in Cardiff? i love in London lol

Fix the rust if you plan on keeping the car, there's no point covering it up, it wont go away!
I have never planned on just covering it up. The skirts would just be for a month or two until i can afford to have the whole lot done. I should really amend my post lol but i do want some nice side skirts to go with the front bumper as well as a new paint job (if money allows)

I had an identical Euphonic

It was similar levels of rust to yours but on these cars they rust from the inside out.
The chassis rails at the front were just starting to go as well and I caught them in time.

I spent nearly a grand sorting it out properly and they should be good for a decade at least. I then sold the car as I fell out of love with it and needed some more practicality.

Save your money, instead of spending it on gay paintjobs and skirts, and get a proper rust repair if you like the car and want to keep it. Otherwise a couple of MOT's down the line you'll have an expensive MOT failure and you'll have to redo the paint and skirts again to sort it properly. The titanium grey is a nicer colour than white anyway.
I want to get the rust sorted as well as respraying it.

The reason i want to spray it is there is a scratches knocking around the paint and it could do with it. Maybe ill look into a respray the same colour as it will be cheaper or a wrap job.

I do love the look of white and black.
Something like this... http://smg.photobucket.com/user/jayswift/media/01%...

I need the wheels refurbished as it is as they are badly corroded. Ive been quoted £260 inc VAT.

At the point i get this done, i thought if i do the paint too they can give a discount.

We'll see how it goes

PenarthMX5parts is fecking miles from the OP, but there's always the train, and I am sure he'd give you a lift to Cardiff Station.
I'm in Cheltenham and think my MX5 needs to go under the torch to get it back on the road - is this my closest option for a specialist?
If your in Cheltenham, but the reviews this guy gets, i would definately say it would be worth the trip for you.
