I really really fking hate it. It is pissing me off more than I should be letting it right now!

It seems nigh on impossible to find a decent Mazda 6 MPS at the moment for sensible money. The ones I have seen have been either a dog, not as described or I've been totally mis-led.

So I arranged to go see one on Friday that looked good, well priced for the mileage and modifications, not the colour I really want but I've never let colour dictate my choice of car before. I had the train ticket booked and paid for, HPI check done, Insured the car so that I was fully covered to drive it. Then I get a call this afternoon telling me that the seller cannot sell the car to me, he has changed his mind as he would regret selling it. That's fine and is his prerogative. He has reimbursed my out of pocket expenses which I cannot complain about. It's just really fked me off as I have been car less since Feb 15th and I've never spent this long trying to find a car before. Its more annoying as it isn't like I am looking for something "special".

It's getting to the point that I am going to stop looking for one and look for something else.

fkING RAGE!

meh, poor rant, not enough fks, 1/10.

There is a red one over the road from where i work the gent took in px this week for one of his vans. what spec price and miles are you looking at.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-6-MPS-06-69K-MLS-2...

Dont know if that helps any?

The miles are a bit high on it really, it'll be due a VVT change and I really dont fancy a 5 hour train ride to Redcar. If it had had the VVT replaced or was around the 58k mark then I'd of entertained it. Thanks though.

Maybe your idea of sensible money, and the market's view, are too far apart.
This
Cars I have been looking at have ranged from £4500 to £5800, all with better specs than the ones advertised and with lower miles.

No problem.
If I decide that I can muster enough energy to spend 5 hours on a train, a few hours to look it over and then 5 hours drive home, then I'll give the guy a call, as its the colour I wanted initially.

It has rear PDC which I'd prefer as well.

Its just a shame its close on 70k miles, and it is (and you're going to say you cant win hehe) possibly a little too cheap.

VVT will need doing soon which is a £450 job and a trip to the lakes (no bad thing, but from Bucks it isnt quick to get to, and I've just had a holiday).

Rage.

69k in a 9 year old car doesnt seem high to me
Its not high at all, but the VVT has a habit of needing replacing at this mileage.

Only at 70k and never 60k? Even if that were true you'll need to get it done either for you or the next owner if you buy one with 58k and that would be low mileage combined with a rare car, so you're unlikely to find one. And then you don't want to pay more for it.

I think you're asking for too much. How much is a VVT replacement?
between £450 and £1200 depending on whether you want to travel to the lakes or not.

The VVT history suggests 70k more often than 60k miles.

When I was talking to John (seller) he took it in a good deal and priced it to sell quick as he mainly sells vans.
It looks fairly tidy with a few stone chips, being red in my opinion it could do with a good mop to get the full luster from the colour and like most it has the signs of some bubbling between the rear bumper and wing (only very slight though) I'm sure what you are saving would leave plenty to get it to a fantastic condition.
He had actually considered keeping it for himself but was a little annoyed that it falls into the higher VED rate.
Sod that for a game of soldiers, most of the ones I have looked at have had no rust bubbles on the rear quarter and there is no mention of that in the advert. I am avoiding that one!

I arent spending £1k on body work on a £3800 car. I might as well have kept my M5. I can buy another MPS for £4800 with less miles and less rust.

I get stuck in this odd juxtaposition whereby I don't want to pay dealer prices, but don't want to deal with the general public either.

It's not all bad though - I bought my VXR8 from a jolly nice American chap who kindly took me around his local US Army base where he worked to fill up with "gas" (at something stupid like 40p/litre) to brim the tank for my journey home. A bizarre experience, it was stepping over the boarder into the US. One of my more interesting buying experiences.
If only it was always as straight forward as that.

Looked at another today. Jess wept! Are people incapable of telling the truth / looking after their car?

Vvt rattle, keyed, air con not working, remote central locking not working, main window switch not working, damage to rear quarter panel and c pillar from brick falling on it, from front wing looks like it has been replaced as it doesn't line up with the bonnet or bumper.

You get what you pay for so don't expect new car quality and service for no money/private seller. Dealers and guarantees cost more for a reason.
I go to every car expecting a shed. If you believe that all of the faults in my last post are acceptable for a 7 year old car for £4500 then I have a lovely ford orion for sale, yours for £6700 hehe
