Hi guys, I've heard of people converting MR2s into 360s, but does anyone know of someone that's done it the other way around? I'm thinking of converting the 360 into an ultimate sleeper car, and wonder if anyone has any experience.

any idea how much it would cost, and any bodyshop recommendations for me to speak to? Panels will surely be cheap - realistically I might as well use second hand panels considering it'd probably need a respray afterwards?

A few concerns jump to mind: the Toyotas are narrower, so I guess I'd have to swap to thinner wheels to fit inside the new arches? Also, I really like the 360's interior but worry if I kept it as-is would it give the game away too easily! As expected though, from a quick check on eBay, MR2 seats are cheap.

Not an MR2 with a 360 kit, aim would be to make it look like a stock MR2. I don't see it as destroying the car though - it's just the body and maybe part of the interior

I think I'm missing some of the references here!

I wouldn't want to use a damaged one for fear of whether the end result would be safe to use. Mine's got some stonechipping at the front but it's otherwise in good condition, and at least I know all the mechanicals are solid underneath what'd be a lightly changed exterior

Does the 360 you're looking to modify look very similar to this??

I genuinely don't get some of these references! I don't have kids.

I'm surprised some people are negative about it. Makes no sense to use a damaged one.

(and no it's not an Xbox! it's silver for a start!)

Be careful, you might have a few issues come MOT time, and i know BiB frown upon fake MR2 fezzes, so God knows what they'd think about it this way round!
Hmm, I hadn't thought about MOT... But MR2->360's must get around it somehow so 360->MR2's should. Perhaps I've got a few things to learn from speaking to the kit guys.

It should have more BHP than standard with all the lighter panels too, this really has to be done!

Some body cut and Lambo up and stuck a Mustang body on it.

It is a very expensive, not all that funny joke really, even thought the world wont really miss the odd 360.
I don't see why it'd be all that expensive, and given the Lambo's the only one people have heard of before, the rarity will protect the value versus those that think it'd mean "destroying"(!) a ferrari.

I'm surprised at all the negativity! I can definitely confirm I'm not 15.

I don't understand "calling custard" but assume it's not a compliment...

It's not wrecking the car because it'd all be unchanged underneath, just making it look ordinary

Are you literally saying take a photo of the car with a packet of custard on it to prove you own it?! Why is anyone questioning that, I haven't had any of the work done yet!

Major issue in any case being that the car isn't here right now, and I don't have any custard in the house anyway!

Only pic I have on my new phone is from sending a photo to a smart repairer about a scrape on my bumper

I really hope this happens biggrin

OP, if you genuinely want to do this I have a friend with at least one (possibly two) scrap MR2s with complete & intact shells and most (if not all) of the interior wink
If this is a genuine offer of help could you kindly PM me details so I can look into it? Despite some people joking about it, and some people seemingly don't believe I even have the car to start with (despite me posting my scrape photo I might add) I think enough people agree it's a good idea!

Thanks for the PM Ben, I'll drop your mate a note.

I wouldn't use a Peuget 406 as they're too big, plus Toyotas are generally more reliable

You have to have the car open, not just find a Ferrari and place some Custard on it, I could do that, we have Stratstones a Dog walk away so I could prove ownership of an FF, a 458 or any other model, Aston, Bentley, Mclaren, Porsche and others not far away as well, all you have proven is ownership of a pot of Ambrosia ready made Custard, not the full on majesty of a pot of Birds Custard Power, the stuff that is more or less white when dry but magically turns vivid orange on contact with milk.
OK, so I had to go back and put a brick through the guy's window to get access, but here...

Grateful if we could stop the joking now gents and talk sensibly about this!

Sadly it's time... Happy April 1st gents! Thanks everyone for being such good sports! smile

To confirm, I love the top-end-Golf-MR2-alike and promise I won’t be taking an angle grinder to it. In fact this afternoon, once I’ve changed out of my school uniform and had some Ambrosia Light, I’m gonna treat her to a good clean and polish by way of apology for bricking open the window yesterday.

(thinking about it, the weight of all that dirt must currently be reducing its BHP??)

Have a great day everyone!
