Goodwood Festival of Speed line up announced

Moss celebrated, five F1 teams and a 28-litre (!) Fiat confirmed for the 2015 Festival

The clocks have gone forward, it's April tomorrow and the first Festival of Speed details have been announced - summer can't be far off now!

As always, there's plenty to be excited by. Stirling Moss's 1955 Mille Miglia victory will be marked 60 years on with seven of the eight Mercedes 300 SLRs ever produced on display. Moss will be reunited with chassis 0004/55, the car he won not only the Mille Miglia in but also the 1955 Tourist Trophy and Targa Florio.

The theme for this year's Festival is 'Flat-Out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge', a point rammed home by the Fiat S76, which will be making its first public appearance in more than a century. It was unofficially the fastest car in the world in 1911, reaching 135mph thanks to a 28-litre, four-cylinder (!) engine with somewhere around 300hp. Should be worth the entry price alone.

Expect more fun and games from the F1 teams

There will also be five F1 teams doing exhibition runs up the hillclimb, plus a Festival of Speed debut for Valentino Rossi. The 40th anniversary of Derek Bell's maiden Le Mans victory will also be commemorated, as will the 20th year of the Cartier Style et Luxe at the Festival.

Need more PH interest? But of course. The new Mazda MX-5, a car we're all clamouring to drive, will make its UK debut. And what could be more PH than an MX-5? Finally, Goodwood is promising its largest ever display of Americana this year. Hell yeah.

Fiat S76 'Beast of Turin' vid here. It's quite loud...

The Beast of Turin is magnificent. Preposterous. We must genuflect before its pioneering glory.
