Tonight the M62 west bound was reduced to chaos with a 12 Mile tail back from Howden to Melton because a Truck had flouted the restriction against high sided vehicles using the Ouse Bridge due to high winds. It was very fortunately for me I was on the opposite carriageway.

This is common occurrence, this morning I actually counted 6 trucks flouting the restriction and even mentioned it to my passenger. This evening despite the opposite carriage being complete closed, matrix signs, numerous traffic and local news reports. There were two more trucks flouting the restriction again. As I travelled under the Humber Bridge there was another truck crossing that despite it also being closed to high sided traffic.

This is one restriction the Police never seem to enforce.

The caravan or whatever it was was completely in the hard shoulder why didn't they open two lanes and wait for a crane in the night.
Yes, they could have opened at least one, probably two.

Wind would have been blowing it further off the bridge not towards the traffic.

Trucks were still flouting the restriction again this morning and not single Police car in sight.

Not a car in sight is probably due to the fact that a police traffic officer acquaintance of mine told me that there are2 out at any one time, for the whole of the North bank, that's Goole to Bridlington !
