First car under £3'000 plus £2'000 insurence
Discussion
Im 17 now and was considering either 1.4 Jetta or a 1.6 Passat both VW and 2006 models I'm gonna pass test in like 3 weeks plus I went on comparison website and got quotes with churchill both under £2400 result should I go for one of them or save extra £1500 and get a A3 Audi? Argh what to do!

Had this with my brother recently, ended up with a base model 03 plate fiesta (with windy windows :P) and that is what I'd recommend here, or maybe a corsa, it's cheap to run, buy and insure and fairly reliable if slightly boring.
Yes you'd look cool with an audi etc but it will shaft you with running costs/repair bills and I doubt you'd get much audi for £3k. As others have said, wait a few years, then with NCD you'll be able to get something decent. That's the sensible view anyway
I get what your saying but I don't want the typical first car I want something I can enjoy with a luxury element and something I can take care with and look after not thrash on a night outYes you'd look cool with an audi etc but it will shaft you with running costs/repair bills and I doubt you'd get much audi for £3k. You did run those quotes as if you jad already passed your test, right? Otherwise you're in for a shock when you update from provisional to full licence.
I'd buy an Aygo or similar if I were 17 right now. Motoring for as cheap as possible until you hit 19-20.
Yes full UK licence with pass plus I put in quote website thanks for checking soz I didn't make it clearI'd buy an Aygo or similar if I were 17 right now. Motoring for as cheap as possible until you hit 19-20.

Ignore everyone else. If you are prepared to spend the money buy whichever you want the most. Why wait another year when you can buy what you want now.
Btw passing your test is not guaranteed, so keep that in mind. Best of luck on the day though.
Im gonna stick with either of the VW Jeta or Passat not bothered which tbh "German reliabilty" and thanks Btw passing your test is not guaranteed, so keep that in mind. Best of luck on the day though.

don't get me wrong here... I approve!
Just wish I would have been so sensible at 17!
have you done all the usual stuff to reduce premiums as much as possible?
Limit your yearly mileage to 5000 or so
Personally I wouldn't touch a black box.
Limited it to 8000 should be enough for my 15 mile round trip comute to work every 3 days a week plus looked at churchill seem to be cheapest without box so best bet for me still puzzled on what VW to get though out of the three i decided upon Jetta Passat Golf all 2006 upwards MMM tricky choice dont wanna go above £5'500 on the lot tbh Just wish I would have been so sensible at 17!

Future dubscener? just like them? no reason not to.
If you like them then why not.
I wouldn't buy a larger car though at 17. You'll just end up driving everywhere and your mates will be having all the fun in the back seat....
Yeah im gonna go for it as a first car one of three and nooo way! My mates arent going near it, its gonna be polished and well maintained If you like them then why not.
