Today my father and I were driving with my MX-5 NC and my dad decided to drive. He has been driving in a car with an automatic transmission for the past years, so driving a manual again was a bit hard... On a little hill he stepped on the gas pretty hard and let the clutch slip a lot. After that there was a bad smell in the car. The smell was gone pretty fast, but I had the feeling that it was caused by the bad clutch usage. Is that possible or should I worry something is broken now?

So should I worry now..?

The clutch felt the same as before after the "event". I am just worried something is wrong now. frown

How do I now if the clutch slips due to damage? Can I hear it?

To be clear I am the owner of the car and my dad did this. No need to say I need a auto...

Thanks for all the help! I am glad that I don't have to worry about it and I will make sure he won't do it again. wink

Maybe it's good to know that my clutch has 50.000km (about 30.000 miles) on it now... I am not sure what the average clutch life time is, but I guess that's not near replacement...?
