OP why don't you continue the thread on this subject this morning? It was a A3 this morning and the first mod you were doing was getting Brembo brakes done.
Discarded A3 too much on insure tbh for 06 model and will go for the brembos too cause there a safety feature just wanna know what car i should go for out of the three tbh thas all Mound Dawg said:
Probably already got the A8 wheels and a hacksaw ready for the springs.
Most of the car gonna stay stock hate messing with things and the Germans build cars to a very high standard, i dont wanna mess with something the Germans have perfected which is why a VW gonna be my first car and my last Welshbeef said:
Sorry just to confirm - the insurance on a A3 audi is too much yet you want to change the entire braking system from OEM to Brembo.... New brake servo, new brake lines new braided hoses, new calipers pads and discs You do realise that is potentially thousands on a car worth barely a couple of bags of sand. Also insurance companies will increase the premium for this brake modification
Im going for a VW Jetta/Passat/Golf 06-09 not an A3 anymore plus Brembo full kit £800-1100 safety feature in my opinion help car stop better and saferWelshbeef said:
Ok can you confirm your fitting new Michelin Pilot sport and brand new shocks and springs as these will be worn and increase your stopping distance.
Also what's the difference in stopping distance like for like? OEM v this "Kit". ?
Brembo claim/quote 40% overall in stopping distance which will be alot safer for a first time driver like me and im gonna go veiw a few Passats/Jettas/Golfs before i make my mind up tbhAlso what's the difference in stopping distance like for like? OEM v this "Kit". ?

This is simply not true at best it might be a couple of feet. You've been sold the idea which is tosh.
stock brakes use a single piston in the caliper opposed to three with the Brembo caliper and numerous test prove this reduction plus grooves in the disc repel heat so less chance to lock up which is what a first time driver (Me for example) doesnt want Welshbeef said:
And 40% reduction in stopping distance too all for £800.... Why bother with £16k ceramic brakes on the Porsche when £800 is all you need.
OP you should change the springs and shocks and tyres before you think about a full brake system change they will have the biggest safety improvement simply fitting new OEM discs and pads over the worm out items will transform the braking performance & changig the brake fluid annually too.

This does not mean anything.
Basically in a nut shell i wanted ypu guys to suggest what i should go for out of Passat/Jetta/Golf 06/07 Model and i was gonna add to brakes to improve safety thats all. And what i meant is that there made to the highest standards imaginableHustleRussell said:
Don't feed the troll.
Especially the illiterate ones who endlessly start thread after thread about what car they should buy and what they should do with it whilst simultaneously pretending they know what they're talking about.

Jetta is a golf with a boot, which do you want more, big opening hatchback. Or a Jetta with a long flat boot. I prefer the golf. The passat is a bit big for a new driver, you might find it difficult to judge where the front and rear is even with the massive
Brembos.
Even with your extensive knowledge of these wonder brakes, the development price that the VAG group spend on braking research probably beats what you know, you really just need to leave them standard and buy decent tyres if needed.
Personally I'd go the golf, it's a good 1st car
Decided upon Jetta, Passat too big and will need the Jetta style boot for work, but thanks for the inputBrembos.

Why is a Golf style boot not suitable for work?
Any comment re the insurance quotes?
Lastly you've elected the rarest option of the three and the 1.4ltr is a very rare model as it doesn't have the power to pull skin off custard.
£2'200 with Churchill no black box which is good i think at 17 and the 1.4 FSI is the 122BHP model just to add cant be that bad Any comment re the insurance quotes?

So is it £2.2k with or without the brakes modification?
Also how is a saloon more practical than a Hatchback?
£2'200 with Churchill NO black box without any modifications at 17 with full UK licence + pass plus that's pretty good for a car with 122BHP and of that size so going with that Also how is a saloon more practical than a Hatchback?
