There aren't many things I hate more than modified Range Rovers...Sports are chavvy in the extreme anyway, why in god's name would you want to make it any more?

The reflection of your windscreen vent is quite offputting too, looks like a really st diffuser on the RRS
This is surely the moment at which to say "But I don't have a windscreen vent!" hehe

And to answer the previous question, yes. Yes it was chrome. Well, chromed plastic, anyway!

Because it's their car and it makes them happy?
That goes without saying, but I really don't understand why it makes them happy?

Sure, people have different tastes, but this????

If the green Rover in the OP's profile is his, then people in glass houses etc etc...
You mean the unmodified (except wheels, which were as close as I could get to factory fit) V8 which was exactly how it left MG Rover? You'll have to explain that one to me.

Why do you care? Each to their own live and let live.
I'm just interested by the thought process.

I don't find it offensive or anything, and I have no problem with the owner putting the badging on. I just wonder at the thought process behind it. I also wonder why it's almost invariably done to Range Rovers.

your taste falls in line with MG Rover without modification, good for you!
I might not have chosen the colour had I specced it new, but given they only made about 20 Mk1 V8 estates, I didn't have a great degree of choice on the second hand market at the time. Other than that, what's not to like about a front wheel drive, transverse mounted V6 car which the loony makers decided to turn into a rear wheel drive, longditudinally mounted V8 with no space for an ashtray in the front (gear box too big) half the spare wheel well taken out by the rear diff and the other half by the battery, ECU and various other bits of electronics which no longer fitted under the bonnet, and was artificially limited to 155mph, despite the fact that its natural top speed was, er, 155mph?

It was superb to drive (even if it did chew through rear tyres in 6,000 miles even with a light right foot)m and it's certainly one of the more interesting and individual cars of the last two decades, which I don't think can really be said of a Rangey Sport with some aftermarket badges on it. smile

good for you but since yours is 'certainly one of the more interesting and individual cars of the last two decades' what choice does everyone else have but to make the best of the rest?
I'm starting to suspect that it might be yours? hehe

No idea
I wouldn't. There has to be some point to a wife in the passenger seat! hehe

You've still got it then? I remember that trip to buy more chairs fondly, it's a great laugh that car. Seems like your grandad would drive it & then it makes those noises & goes like that laugh
Sadly not. cry

My old Shogun died, and having just an 11yr old V8 estate which drank petrol at an insane rate wasn't really sustainable, so it went....

The plan was to replace it with a company S-Max and keep a couple of grand back for an MX-5, old 106 GTi or something equally frivolous.

That was 18 months or so ago, and I realised that the roads in the South East are so bloody over-crowded these days that I would be buying a toy just to sit in traffic in less comfort than in the S-Max, so I spent the £2k on a new mountain bike instead, and get far more adrenaline far more frequently as a result!!!

Bet you're sorry you posted this now OP, why is the guy getting such a hard time, Range Rover looks like st, why all the digs at his own car? People will eventually stop posting anything and all we'we'll be left with is where we can buy an old barge or where the best lease deal is!
Nah... I had 6 years of people taking the piss when I owned it. Nobody was ever anything but complimentary after they'd been in it / on a hoon with it / watched it doing donuts in fields in Norfolk.... smile
