I'm half considering buying a cheap generic Irish 3-letter, 4-number plate to put on my 54 reg Range Rover, simply to make it impossible for anyone except an anorak to tell whether it is is from 2002 or 2012. I cannot make my mind up however - on the one hand I think it is quite nice to remove the obvious age identifiers without using a look-at-me obvious private plate. However, on the other hand I can't help but it it might be considered a bit chav to be disguising a car's age - an probably might look a bit 3.14-lock-opener to have a 10 year old SUV with an irish plate on it! I'm not normally a vain person at all, and certainly not a "must have the latest reg" type, so I do feel a bit conflicted.

What does the PH massive think?

Ok, ok. I didn't say I was dead set on it, I said I was half considering it! I don't want to appear "bling" at all, I simply thought it might be nice to make the car look a bit timeless.

I think now that I shall definitely be leaving it as it is

And what the hell do you need a Range Rover for anyway? You're a twenty year old student. Flog it and get something more appropriate.
Because I want one. What the hell has my car choice got to do with you? Do I tell you what to drive? And what the hell do you know about my life, hobbies, work commute and other pursuits that leads you to determine whether my car is "appropriate"? What would you deem as appropriate? A knackered old Corsa perhaps? I'm 23, I've been driving for 6 years now and I'll drive whatever the fk I want, so wind your fking neck in

Very succinct JAYB.

Has anyone questioned whether it is actually his RR? Not only is it a standard PH thing to do but I'm also a student of similar age and neither I nor anyone I know can afford to buy, fuel and insure a RR of that generation without a bit (or a lot!) of help from the parents. Just saying. Because this is PH no doubt I will be accused of just being jealous to ask such a question hehe
JAYB being a monumental thunder who can never have anything nice to say, as usual

Yes, it is my RR. Funded by selling my Discovery and the imminent sale of my steam engine. Costs less to run than the diesel Disco due to LPG being 50ppl where I fill up, and at £900 compared to the £600pa for the Disco is not that much more to insure either.
Still, haters gonna hate I suppose

Are you accusing me of insurance fraud/passing off someone else's car as mine? You can fk right off with that one.

That is MY car, registered in MY name and insured in MY name, and I have the paperwork to prove it

As you've all probably guessed, I am definitely not getting a private plate now.

I do however have my eye on a "Normal" prefix plate that has a special meaning to me. The only snag? It's currently affixed to a 1993 Clio that has spent the last 3 yeas on SORN and is presumably mouldering away under a tarp in someone's front garden, location unknown

I dont especially, I've long given up on the idea of a generic ageless plate for those reasons. I was going to give up full stop, but I have been tipped off about this new plate that still exists long after I thought it would have been withdrawn, which is extremely pertinent to both me and the car, hence why I'm after it.

What's the plate?
I'm in 2 minds about whether or not to post it, in case I get beaten to it by someone who then wants a fortune for it
