Drove a porsche cayman today...
Discussion
And how disappointing it was.
Have driven plenty of fast cars and never a porsche.
Took it out for a spin after planning on buying one and wow, what an anti climax.
The gearbox felt so weak and almost loose, the power was well, not there (2.7 cayman) and then the interior was so plain! also the footwell where the pedals are just seemed so small and kept tangling my feet up.
Absolutely gutted i wasn't in love with the cayman, it was my next car and it just left me empty!
Anyone else taken one for a spin and been dissapointed?

Thought about the 370z, that might be the next option but feel like a change to different car brand. clutch, gearbox, power delivery. 370z has been reviewed heavily as not much difference in performance and alot of people on 350z-uk prefer the 350.
Mine has a cobra sport exhaust also so it sounds pretty nice, where as the porsche was alot quieter and no smile like when you hit 6000rpm in 2nd in the 350z and you feel like an F1 driver

Ideas:
Mitsubishi EVO IX
911 Carrera 2
Subaru Impreza (Prodrive)
Lotus Elise 111R
Audi RS4 2.7TT
All depends how big your repairs slush fund is and if you have a trusted Indy near by...

Not looked at rs4's based on the fact they look dated and quite plain and dare i say boring?

350Z is a good car, often described as similar to a mini muscle car in contemporary car mags. If you like the way it drives, have you considered going for something with a proper sized engine?
Monaro VXR 6.0 can be had in budget, meets all of your criteria, and it sounds good at any rpm. Good chassis and cheap as chips to run too (apart from fuel).
That looks awful!Monaro VXR 6.0 can be had in budget, meets all of your criteria, and it sounds good at any rpm. Good chassis and cheap as chips to run too (apart from fuel).
To be honest i hate vaxhaull's they dont do it for me. i categorize them with skoda and suzuki.

Best stick with your Renault engine Datsun in that case
What are your next car criteria? Ultimately, £13k budget for a Cayman is fairly low and I can imagine most will be tired at that price point. If badge/ image is important to you, and you want a characterful engine, a BMW Z4M should be in budget (just about).
Haha the renault datsun is some car! but i do understand where you are coming from. What are your next car criteria? If i dont keep my 350z i might go back to a type r or give some sort of ford a go.
