I saw this car driving round today which seemed to be doing quite a few short mile or so loops.

Anyone got any idea what it is/why it is covered?

Sorry for terrible photos - the headlight photo was because it had some lines on it that I thought was maybe associated with another brand?

Either the Front and rear number plates don't match, or there's two cars there!

As above, its a new car being tested. Looks like its in production ready form, hence hiding the front and rear so no one see's its 'face' before they want you to.
There is two cars, one behind the other! The photo of the front of the car is taken in my mirror. The photo of the rear is taken as it was next to me.

Next MINI Countryman must be in development too... The roofline (and colour) doesn't look very 'MINI' though.
MINI do a lot of their launch stuff here.

Last year they hired out a hotel or about two weeks and closed off half of the streets residents parking to line their minis up and down for the press to be taken on mini adventures in. It was quite cool to see all the cars but the residents were seething!

[aside] Ah the good old Hotel Du Vin in Henley. Lovely place to take the trouble and strife away for the weekend. Most amazing beds of any hotel I've stayed in! [/aside]
That courtyard in the summer is something else. Perfect for a bottle of fizz and a cigar.

I may be cynical but I think the real purpose of the camouflage is to generate publicity. It worked!
It could be so. But then, surely it's better to drive it around London rather than a small market town?
