This year's supercar hot tickets are finally arriving in the UK, with some chunky premiums attached...
Sadly, if you haven't already got your order in, you can forget about buying one new - Porsche says the RS has long since sold out, although it has yet to declare exactly how many it'll be making.
Big, big premium required for a 991 RS
Considering the UK RHD list price for the RS is £131,296, you might raise an eyebrow at the cost of this left-hooker. It's 215,000 euros excluding tax. That equates to £183,500 on the road, a gargantuan £50K price hike - and for a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side.
So you might consider it's worth going for the regular GT3 instead. But even here, prices are eye-watering - and you're going to have to put up with a left-hooker if you want it new. The list price on a regular GT3 is £100,540, but you'll have to shell out - wait for this - £155,995 for a new Carrera White GT3 with Clubsport Pack, fresh from Germany.
Another new GT3 is available (again LHD, again in white with a black interior) for £167,400. That's a scarcely believable £67K above list. Supply and demand...
Available for less than list price in fact
If you tap the search term 'GT3' into the classifieds you'll end up looking at the wares of another manufacturer: Bentley. Its Continental GT3-R is an enthusiast-focused monster with just two seats, 580hp, 575lb ft and a kerbweight 100kg less than the regular GT V8 S.
Only 300 of these are being sold worldwide, of which just 34 are UK cars. A delivery-mileage 64-plate Continental GT3-R is up for sale in Rutland, priced at £225,950. That's actually a fair bit less than UK list price, so if you're a speculator, this probably isn't the car to invest in. If you like body stripes, though...
Other models in the Continental range can currently be had with plenty of money off, like the GTC Speed advertised at £178,969; around £7K off list.
£25K on top of RRP required for a GT now
And what price another of this year's hottest supercars, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT? Romans International has a GT S Premium Package that's in stock and physically available for £139,950. You guessed it, that's a fair whack over the list price of £114,695 - in fact, more than £25K over list.
Being the 'S' model it has 510hp, which means 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 193mph. It's fully specced with its Premium Package (Burmester stereo, panoramic glass roof, etc), while it also has the Dynamic Plus Package.
R8 bargains?
So there are lots of price hikes on the hot stuff - but what about cars that are nearing their sell-by date? Expect big money off. With the all-new Audi R8 also having made its UK debut at the recent Festival of Speed, dealers are keen to shift remaining examples of the outgoing R8.
