^^ all the more reason to buy one.
Drive it while you can, enjoy it. Don't miss the chance
+1 no point regretting the things you didn't do. Go for it!

Range Rover - that thought in the back of your mind - When is some part of the electrics going to have a hissy fit.
First question anyone asks me when I tell them I drive a Land Rover is "so what's gone wrong with it?" The answer I give them is "nothing."

They are complex machines but they work most of the time and if you find a local independent (there are loads), everything can be fixed quite cheaply.

If you want one, get one. They're fabulous.

Just thought of another one - Supra TT. Should have got on in the mid 90s before the Neds got to them and ruined them all.

I think this thread is about cars you could afford if you wanted to but will not own because:

They are a bit chavvy/you feel too self conscious to own
They are impractical for your lifestyle
You are scared they will go wrong
You'd have to sell something more practical/lower running costs to make room for it
You'd probably sit and look at it but never drive it
etc....

Saying you'd like a Veyron but can only afford a diesel Sierra is missing the point a bit.

All your reasons are 'can't afford it' or 'don't actually want it' though.
Not really. There are many things I admire from afar or idly look for on eBay wondering how I could justify my purchase to my wife if I hit the 'buy it now' button. Example, I keep looking for Haybusa turbos and nearly bought one last year. Wish I had because it was a beauty but I bottled it. I also keep looking at Z-car Minis and want to build a Hayabusa-powered smart car. I also keep looking at Rover SD1s and RR Classic 3 doors.

I have many Classic American magazines and one day I will have a 70's Yank tank.

I want a caterham more than anything, I spend hours watching you tube videos etc but I can never justify spending what is to us a lot of money on a toy just for me, my wife is not into cars and my daughters have inherited my Land Rover fasination rather than sports cars!

The other car I find myself watching everyone that comes up for sale is a Felicia Fun, crazy bright yellow pick up truck covered in frogs but like to rust in hard to reach places!
See, he 'gets' it. smile

Does he? I'm really not having a go but the parts I've bolded don't add up. If I want something more than anything, then obviously that places it higher than the wishes of my OH.

I don't see 'can't afford it' as a negative btw. We all make choices on what we can and can't afford according to priorities. I want a million things from a new boat to a new motorbike to everything in between but I can't afford them all. If I had unlimited money, I'd definitely have them!
I disagree, we all live within the constraints we put upon ourselves. For example, my job is OK but it's not vocational and I wish I was brave enough to retrain and do something I love. However, I have a wife an family to support and I feel to do so would be selfish and irresponsible.
