Written-off cars - service history?

Hi all,
Considering buying a cat d car, however it has zero service history. The owner has said that their insurance company kept all of the service history following the accident that led to the car being classified as a cat d. Is this likely? Have done a HPI check on the vehicle, but it only reads 'recorded as being written-off', rather than giving cat a, b, c or d. Rather confused by the whole situation.

Most of the time the ins. co will ask for keys and all documents when they're ready to pay out, then they get chucked in the bin either by the insurance co or the breaker's yard the car ends up in.
Double-check the write-off category and if it looks OK chances are it probably is!
It's registered as a 'v car' but the write-off category isn't given. Never experienced this with a HPI check.Double-check the write-off category and if it looks OK chances are it probably is!
