The S2000 was running a bit rich, and Engine management light came on so I changed the MAP sensor (a new one from euro car parts)

I changed it yesterday, reset the ECU, started it up and idled it.

It did run a bit lumpy for a few miles, but then drove perfect.

Went for a nice drive in the sun this afternoon and again drove perfectly, stopped for a burger, then when I restarted her she through a tantrum frown

Was coughing/spluttering/popping/banging and the EML came on again, so tried resetting the ECU but it does it again, also keeps throwing a power steering fault.

Got the RAC out who plugged his computer in, and it's showing a fault with the MAP sensor.

He tried taking it all apart and sprayed with carb cleaner, but still the same!

So now waiting for a flatbed frown

Anyone any ideas what it could be?

A new faulty MAP Sensor?

Or could it be something more serious like the ECU?

RAC bloke thinks it's something electrical hence the Power steering light etc.

Cheers

Thanks Guys, just made it back!

Its this Facet sensor: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331322446824?_trksid=p20...

I atleast expected the euro car part to actually work to start with, even if it only lasted a year! I think the honda sensor is about £300 frown

However i just noticed the sensor i have is slightly different markings than in the pic:

It has:

3032
11D
10/169.2Kpo

Don't know what this means?

I will try refitting the original sensor tomorrow and see if it at least runs? If so i will know its the sensor at fault?

And yes i did the proper ecu reset several times. When the P/S light came on, there was no assistance. However the light went out on the next start up and assistance worked.

Update:

Refitted the old sensor, started her up, was idling a bit rough so didn't sound good, but took her for a drive, and all back to usual, went through the revs nicely.
Although i think its still running rich as getting some pretty big pops on the over run. But the engine light did not come on.

Just to confirm things, tried the "new" sensor, idled nicely, pulled away gently, 3K RPM Cough/Splutter/pop!

Old sensor back on, runs as before, i.e. bad idle and a bit rich.

So i think i can safely say the new sensor is faulty! And the old sensor does need replacing.

Thanks paper lawyer, however they don't have the genuine Honda one, which i think i will fork out for this time!

Genuine Honda from Tegiwa, £45
http://www.tegiwaimports.com/select-car/honda/s200...

Snider Aftermarket sensors on F20 and K20 engines rarely work properly or last.
Thanks, unfortunately that's for the later drive by wire version.
I will give them a call tomorrow and see if they can get it for a reasonable price, if not may import one from the states.

Thanks, ordered a genuine Honda sensor from Tegiwa for £90 delivered from the USA.

Hopefully should sort the problem once it arrives!
