I feel bad. I do. This feel like a confession!

I bumped it so gently I didn't even consider that there would be a scuff so I drive off. When I get to where I'm going 5 mins away, I check out my car and notice a 3 inch by 3 inch mark on the bumper. I rub it off with a damp cloth, and it's 99% not visable but I felt bad, so I prepared a note and went back to the other car, which was still there.

When I get to it though the car was covered in rust - really really badly, it looked like the windscreen was being held in with tape, and plenty of scuffs all over it and generally an absaloute shed.

I didn't leave my note as I didn't want to get rinsed for sorting out paintwork that was damaged way way beyond the scuff I could have left - it was genuinly difficult to tell if I had scuffed it on account of the poor paint condition!

What would you have done?

It's called the rat look, the owner has probably spent tens of thousands deliberately making it look like that.
Possibly, but it wasn't slammed and wasn't a VW, so I doubt it!

Probably continued to do my homework, just in case my form tutor got mad when holidays were over.
Yo do know that the OP has been here far longer than you?
I ignored it, as it seems the cool thing to do at the moment is try and call people out for being on their summer holidays. Really not sure why!?

One thing I wouldn't do is confess on here with my name and car/registration clearly showing in my profile wink
hehe

It's an old car, no my current one.

Annndddd I don't think I gave enough away about the other car for it to be identified.

Someone hit my car leaving a nice dent and no note. No worries, it's just an old banger BMW and definitely not someone's pride and joy.... is probably what they thought frown
I know what you mean but this was a little different I think. The bumper was literally covered in marks and the wheel arches were only made of rust and the were big rust spots all over the bodywork. There was peeling tape all around the windscreen, and big patches of missing paint where the tape had come off the roof. Probably 100 fag ends all over the front seats

Just to clarify, I am usually the kind of person to leave a note. I have also been clumsy the last couple years.

Last year at Centre Parcs I dropped my mountain bike, and it clipped a van - it left a 5mm chip in the paint, and I left a note. The guy contacted me, we agreed he'd sort it and send me the bill, and he never did.

Earlier this year I was getting out my OHs car and my dog jumped out with me, bashing the door and sending it into the neighbouring car. Again, I left details but never heard anything back.

This time around when I went back the rear bumper was so covered in scuffs I honestly couldn't tell if I had scuffed it, or if they were all already there. This was out of character for me not to leave a note, but in all honesty I couldn't tell if I'd marked it or not! This car genuinley on it's very last legs, can't imagine it was worth more than scrap value - not like an old beemer in good nick as others have said, a properly grotty inside and out, shed.
