Why don't main dealers do MOTs?

Well I'm sure some do but I've been to many that don't.
I had my car booked in with the local Porsche dealershp for a service and MOT, they told me the MOT would be done at Abduls budget tyres and exhausts down the road.
By chance I had to change Porsche dealer who like the first took it to a tiny garage called Stevies motors.
I'm paraphrasing in both cases, but it seems slightly odd that two large dealerships which deal with very expensive cars entrust the MOT side to tiny businesses.
I'm guessing its to do with cost/time?
