£100K Garage: Jack Woodgate

Is having a Clio V6, F-Type and Caterham enough to offset the Range Rover Sport?

Name: Jack Woodgate
Previously owned: VW Polo 1.2 (with a GTI grille - as you do), Mini Cooper, Alfa 147, Mazda Eunos, BMW 120d xDrive
Current: Renaultsport Clio 200 EDC
On the Shortlist: Caterham Seven 360, Renaultsport Megane 275 Trophy

Renault Clio V6 255
Cost
: £19,995
Balance: £80,005
Why I chose it: "Having grown up around the Renaultsport brand (my dad runs a Renault dealership) I fell in love with the V6 as soon I was taken to school in one. This was my boyhood fantasy car, with its gigantic arches, huge multispoke wheels and raspy twin exhaust. Still a genuine head turner to this day - this would be my first acquisition! They are holding their money so I'm not surprised to see this car at £20K. Iliad Blue is a great colour as well."

Jaguar F-Type V6 Convertible
Cost
: £48,000
Balance: £32,005
Why I chose it: This was a really tough one. It was up against the Aston V8 Vantage and a number of Porsches. Naturally, you would need a fast two-seater convertible in any £100K Garage, and this would be my choice. Although F-Types aren't the quickest, I think they are well up there in terms of aesthetic appeal. And noise, the noise! A must have - and at less than £50K, it makes the next choice viable..."

Range Rover Sport TDV6
Cost
: £12,975
Balance: £17,030
Why I chose it: "Given the Clio V6 has an engine in the back and the F-Type may well struggle with larger loads, this is the practical choice. A good balance of kerb appeal and practicality. I appreciate there are probably financially better barges out there - particularly in terms of fuel consumption and reliability - but they wouldn't be as fun. I'd take the gamble with this one - looks like it's been looked after well."

Caterham 7 Academy
Cost
: £16,995
Balance: £35
Why I chose it: "I am soon departing the team at PHHQ to join Caterham; though this may seem like a sly attempt at free advertising, the fact is, after you have driven one, you have to have one! Unless of course you are one of these mad modern consumers who dislike the feeling of 70mph wind through your hair... In my view, there is little out there that is more engaging, fun to drive and just plain cool!

"Bringing me in with 35 quid left - I'd get myself some PH Stickers and proudly decorate all my purchases! To clarify - that was a shameless plug...

"Thank you PH, it's been emotional!"

Love the Jag but would take the coupe as you already have the Caterham from wind in your hair driving.

The Range Rover 2.7 is totally under powered and you will hate it eventually - I would go for the full fat RR with the Vo8
