Not much of a rant, but more of a "WTF is wrong with people?".

Every now and then on the motorway I'll get caught up in a snarl up or jam and what it turns out to be is two or three cars, always in the outside lane. They'll be stopped with a few people standing there peering at some either invisible or very trivial (eg. broken indicator, number plate) damage or waving documents about.

Are these people total bellends? Are they waiting for forensics to turn up and take measurements? In the meantime lets create a ten mile jam.

Is it beyond their wit to pull over onto the hard shoulder and debate the matter of responsibility there?

I don't spend long in lane 3 - too many plonkers with too much bhp and lots of distractions.
My thoughts exactly - I do 60 miles a day on the M62 and I have my own little challenge to try and do the whole lot while never ever going in lane 3. It's no slower.

I make the odd exception, but I'll only move out if I can see that I can get out, squirt past the vehicle in L2 and get back in again without having to slam on the brakes and do a full emergency stop.

Playing devils advocate here, but perhaps whatever caused the bump meant they had to stop (Person in front slamming anchors on then the two cars behind come together). Once you are stopped it is very hard to get from lane 3 to the hard shoulder even in slow moving traffic.
Well since the lane in front of them is totally empty they could just move off and make their way to the hard shoulder. It's not difficult.

******THREAD RESURRECTION*******

Yesterday, Lane 4 of the anti-clockwise M25 -

Dashcam clip - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49MBRaZ6H-0

It's not the first time I've seen such shenanigans on this stop/start western stretch of the M25. But really, what goes through their minds that makes them think it's a good idea?
fking total utter muppets! This is EXACTLY what I meant when I started the thread, perfect.
