Just wondering what might be available with a budget of £3500 maybe £4000 tops?

Not bothered about fuel consumption but it must be something that's going to be reliable. Doesn't need to have 4 doors but 2 little seats in the back may come in handy.

ETA: It will be a daily driver and anything with a 0-60 time of under 7 seconds is acceptable.

Rx8s seem to be very good value for money and the Leon Cupra R suggestion was one I hadn't considered.

Early Hayabusa, 190+ mph. About as fast as you'll get for the cash.

Or did you want something with more wheels?
I only have a licence for 3 wheels plus I'm afraid.

Classic impreza sti

for top speed get an sti, for acceleration get an sti-ra

Youll undoubtedly find something with a higher top speed but you're very unlikely to find something that will reach it as readily.

Go for an RA actually, forget the fat version.

I'd love an Impreza but I feel like the originals are looking a bit dated now. Plus I'd be terrified of reliability issues; original, well maintained, unmolested ones seem very few and far between.

Let's add a maximum age of 12 years old. Yeah I know I'm being picky but I have about £3500 in the kitty and I'm curious what fast car I could get.

I've seen a few 330s and the Mondeo St220 for the budget, as long as it has a 0-60 time less then 7 seconds then I'd be happy. Less than 6 seconds and I'd be ecstatic.

ETA: RX8s seem to be very good value for money. They're my top contender at the moment.

Fastest you can go for £3500 and we're offering up Clios and Mondeos? The fk happened to this place?

OP - you need either a big engine or a big turbo'd engine. Ideally both, but that might not happen.

That S-type is lovely, it would scratch my V8 itch too. There's even a few R models within budget but have higher mileages.

What are the big cats like for reliability and repair costs?
