Infiniti Q60 - Detroit 2016

A 400hp V6, sharp styling and 'Dynamic Digital Suspension' - the car to get people out of their A5s?

The Infiniti Q60, or G37 as it was originally introduced over here, was a car that many people didn't get. For some it was a luxurious Nissan 370Z, and few could see the point of a quite raw sports car made more refined. And for those who saw it as rival to the 3 Series Coupe and Audi A5s, the badge must have been an issue. It wasn't the best looking car either.

It was a nice car to drive but that wasn't enough, in the UK at least. So here's the new Infiniti Q60, inspired by last year's concept, a car said to offer a "compelling combination of daring design and exhilarating performance and dynamics."

That performance will come from a new 'VR30' 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, offered with 304 or 405hp. There will also be a 208hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo. There is no diesel option confirmed yet. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available also. Then we're onto the option list...

The Direct Adaptive Steering introduced on the Q50 is now available in its second generation, joined as well by 'Dynamic Digital Suspension'. Sadly there are no details on it yet, but expect those to follow (with more options) as the summer launch date get closer.

Is this the Infiniti that can really make inroads in the UK? Will it struggle with no diesel option? Will anything stop people buying A5s? Answers to follow later this year.

Sorry, no diesel in this sector = no sales...

That's the UK market!
