Yesterday afternoon I was travelling down the A1. I was overtaking an HGV and was almost clear of it when it pulled out. His front wheel hit my rear passenger side, spun me flat against the front of his cab, and I travelled sideways down the A1 for what seemed an eternity. The police attended and closed the road, and told me that the Romanian driver had no blind spot mirror enabling him to see me as I was alongside.

Anyway, a very lucky escape, but is this likely to be a write off? The car is an S1, less than a year old and has done about 11,000 miles. Remarkably the airbags did not deploy.

Be honest though, do you really want it back? I'd be in two minds after an impact like this, no matter how much I liked the car.
It's a very high spec car which I'd be lucky to find again nearly new, and would have to wait ages for if I ordered new.

I have had my eye on an Audi RS Q3. Is that any better?

The rear window is broken, and the passenger side door window is stuck 3/4 up, as presumably the door is bent...

The damage is front bumper, front wing, passenger door, rear wing, rear glass, rear bumper and 3 x wheels. No idea if suspension is damaged, but will probably need new tyres too as they're not supposed to go sideways at 50mph.

It's a very minor impact.
You're kidding me? I think I was lucky to walk away from this. A fully loaded HGV hit me at about 55mph.

Today's lesson? Don't hang about in truck driver's blindspots.
Although I understand your point, it was another truck pulling out ahead suddenly that meant I couldn't fully clear the HGV. When I started the pass it was clear ahead.

I just heard back from the garage, and they are going to repair it.

And there's a Citroen Cactus on its way to me as a courtesy car.

That's worse than having the crash in the first place. hehe
Frankly, I'd rather eat my own testicles than be seen in this thing.
