Please forgive me if this has been done before.

Parked in the road outside my flat is a 2nd generation Renault Twingo, painted in Gulf colours. Which makes it look ridiculous I reckon. You can get away with Gulf colours (if you really must) on Porsches, McLarens, Astons and some Fords but not on a Renault surely? Or, thinking about it, that Fiat 500 I saw a couple of weeks back. Or the Mini last summer. The point being that Porsche, McLaren, Ford & Aston Martin have raced in these colours as works/semi-works teams wheras the others didn't. Might as well paint your Merc with Alitalia stripes or your Honda with Martini 1s. It just doesn't seem right.

Or am I completely wrong?

I once saw an XR4i in Texaco colours. It seemed deeply wrong.

As for the MX5 Le Mans thing - yes. Yes to Golf Leaf Elises too.

The Audi Quattro paint job looks fine on the S3 but it wouldn't suit, for example, a Polo despite being built by the same company.
Nor would it suit an A2.

The Ur Quattro - I think that's what it is. Rear sill appears to be flared to meet the arch. Perhaps the original poster can comment on that.

On closer inspection it is an S1 not an S3, my bad.

German Texaco Sierra good, XR4i seen at Le Mans way back when, not.

Finally those Reliants. Actually, in a really weird way, yes. I don't think it should be encouraged though.

I think the rear spoiler is also bigger than the coupe's.

^^^^ That seems to be the real thing & therefore not a road car. Moving on, when did Vic Lee get out?

This is just plain wrong IMO - it's not like there's space for a race number for starters.

Hadn't seen the WRX lite series up till now. Not sure I like it.The paint scheme on the Renault, not the series.

Maybe we need a whole new category - modern competition cars with old paint schemes. Plus 1 for motorsport socks.

As for that red thing, no idea. Don't know what the car in the foreground is either.
